Life was simple way back then
When candy hearts made promises
They used to make you blush
Which always made me smile

But darling how the times have changed
Those sugared words have lost their ways
If only it was simple
As it was back then

I don't want you
Just to love me
For what I do
For what I do

I can't love you
Like I've told you
If only we knew
That love was never meant for me and you

I remember you back then
Your crooked teeth and stupid grin
You always called me lovely
You always seemed to care

But candy hearts, they disappeared
As time went on, your words weren't clear
You said you'd always love me
You said you'd always be there

I don't want you
Just to love me
For what I do
For what I do

I can't love you
Like I've told you
If only we knew
That love was never meant for me and you

I'm sorry dear, I've gone astray
The candy hearts are on their way
They used to make you smile
But now they've made you say

It never was about the words
I listened for the things unheard
But hearts cannot be changed
If words are in the way

I don't want you
Just to love me
For what I do
For what I do

I can't love you
Like I've told you
If only we knew
That love was never meant for me and you

If only we knew
That candy hearts could not make love come true

The song is about the two different views on love. She doesn't need the candy to know he loves her, they are just a symbol. He thinks that without them there is nothing. at first everyting is fine but then he starts giving her things everytime he messes up and she becomes unhappy they realize that they think too differently about love and it wont work.

the girl is his friend from nashville allie peden is her name i think. she has some solo stuff its good.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
