Basically a man works at a hospital. He loves his job, but for more than just the pay. The lyrics mention this man laying in the beds of the dead, loving the "hospital smell", raping coma patients, and taking pictures of wounds. One part implies that he likes to watch people die because he knows death is near.
Another very well-written song by The Black Dahlia Murder. I can't get enough of these absolutely ridiculous lyrics, lol.
I don't think the rape part was to be taken literally, might be though.

You guys are right, I think its about a coroner who gets off on the fact that hes surrounded by death/sickness that leads to death. Or its about a doctor who enjoys the aformentioned death and sickness but also chooses to let them die/become even more sick for his own pleasures. TBDM are amazing, in more ways then one.

"The sound of vomiting, to my ears like singing" makes me think of how his vocals, and most death metal vocals in general, sound like vomiting, hence 'the sound of vomiting to my ears like singing'
I want to say this song is a metaphor for people who like this type of music; the lyrical content (gore, death, non-mainstream topics, etc..), the fashion in which the music is presented (fast-paced, heavy, loud and raucous).
Before you jump on me, I totally see the meaning that is apparent (a person who works in a hospital in order to be closer to the dying and the dead) however, I believe there is an underlying meaning that exists as well as what is right in front of you.

Great lyrics but I don't find the song great. These are the only songs in the Nocturnal album that I listened the most: Warborn,Nocturnal,What A Horrible Night To Have A Curse,Deathmask Divine,and Everything Went Black.
