Whoever Brings the Night Lyrics
We seduce the dark with pain
And try to lie to ships that pass in the night
You and I, a whore and a bashful sailor
Welcome to a sunrise of a dirty mind
All your love is a lie
You one-night butterfly
Hurt me, be the one
Whoever brings the night
The dark dream to hide the innocence
Why the last of night?
Our so bright, seductive lies
Crimson masquerade
where I merely played my part
Poisoned art of desire
All your love is a lie
You one-night butterfly
Hurt me, be the one
Whoever brings the night
Choose a bride tonight
A fantasy for the sorry
Hurt me, I love to suffer
Your harems are dreams for free
???
Come with me on the water
And drown to despise me no more
Unholy, unworthy
My night is a dream for free
All your love is a lie
You one-night butterfly
Hurt me, be the one
Whoever brings the night
All your love is a lie
You one-night butterfly
Hurt me, be the one
Whoever brings the night
Whoever brings the night
And try to lie to ships that pass in the night
You and I, a whore and a bashful sailor
Welcome to a sunrise of a dirty mind
You one-night butterfly
Hurt me, be the one
Whoever brings the night
Why the last of night?
Our so bright, seductive lies
Crimson masquerade
where I merely played my part
Poisoned art of desire
You one-night butterfly
Hurt me, be the one
Whoever brings the night
A fantasy for the sorry
Hurt me, I love to suffer
Your harems are dreams for free
And drown to despise me no more
Unholy, unworthy
My night is a dream for free
You one-night butterfly
Hurt me, be the one
Whoever brings the night
All your love is a lie
You one-night butterfly
Hurt me, be the one
Whoever brings the night

If you have the booklet from the original Dark Passion Play CD you know that there is a picture which shows us sluts in a Harem, so this song is about this "brides for one night", about the dark, seductive way of their unreal love, and about how they kill her "bashful" victims/punters (I don't know the right word, sry) after seducing them. I think the narrator wants to appeal to one's conscience, he writes the most about the unreal love, about the pain and how the people's beauty gets rotten after a time. I think this song is very good (the lyrics are by Emppu, the lyrics by Tuomas) and can be related to not only to Harems, but to the global society or to many countries, just my opinion.
Nicely said LastoftheWilds! claps I'm glad someone is at least looking at the official booklet. I have it right here, next to me. ^^ It's my bible. lol
The song is (in my opinion) reminiscent of the Succubus. For those who don't know, a Succubus is a demonic creature that takes the shape of a woman, sometimes portrayed as a half demon or a winged demoness (and usually very violent or dark a creature). The succubus would seduce her victim, have their fun with them, and then kill the victim and take their soul. That's basically the idea of the song; people believe in a fake love or go to something that they think is beautiful, but really they just set themselves up for sadness and failure. It can link not only to brothels or prostitutes, but even just a regular love life that never worked out; some people really do feel broken hearted or that they've lost something important when they lose love. It's quite an interesting song.
I can't believe no one's commented on this great song yet?! This song kicks ass... Nightwish rocks!

Fantastic lyrics
This song curiously reminds me of She is my sin, as if "the Bride too dear(...)" had became less shy... Anyway, a great seductive song. One little advice: bring together Cadence of her last breath and this one, and you'll get an great energizer!
i recommand everyone who liked this song to read the book "eleven minutes" by Paulo Coelho. it was actually the only way i could understand the lyrics...
Sounds like its about prostitutes.
The first two lines of the chorus are so nicely done. At first I wasn't a big fan of a lot of Dark Passion Play, but it's grown on me...this song and For The Heart I Once Had, especially.
