I wish I had an angel
For one moment of love
I wish I had your angel tonight

Deep into a dying day
I took a step outside an innocent heart
Prepare to hate me fall when I may
This night will hurt you like never before

Old loves they die hard
Old lies they die harder

I wish I had an angel
For one moment of love
I wish I had your angel
Your Virgin Mary undone
I'm in love with my lust
Burning angel wings to dust
I wish I had your angel tonight

I'm going down so frail 'n cruel
Drunken disguise changes all the rules

Old loves they die hard
Old lies they die harder

I wish I had an angel
For one moment of love
I wish I had your angel
Your Virgin Mary undone
I'm in love with my lust
Burning angel wings to dust
I wish I had your angel tonight

Greatest thrill
Not to kill
But to have the prize of the night
Hypocrite
Wannabe friend
13th disciple who betrayed me for nothing!

Last dance, first kiss
Your touch my bliss
Beauty always comes with dark thoughts

I wish I had an angel
For one moment of love
I wish I had your angel
Your Virgin Mary undone
I'm in love with my lust
Burning angel wings to dust
I wish I had your angel tonight

    My Interpretation

I wish I had an angel For one moment of love I wish I had your angel tonight (The start of the song is a conversation between two love rivals here one of them has already lost and is telling the winner that he wishes he could have someone to love just for moment even... then proceeds to tell him I wish I had your (lover/Girl) tonight)

Deep into a dying day I took a step outside an innocent heart Prepare to hate me fall when I may This night will hurt you like never before (They are once again having a conversation one of them start by saying its was night and or the day was ending I decided to let myself be guided by sin instead of innocence your going to hate me but I have already fallen to deep to fall any further prepare yourself this night will hurt you like it never has before)

Old loves they die hard Old lies they die harder (Here is and easy explanation continuing from the last verse he explains Old loves are hard to kill old lies you tell yourself and others are even harder to kill)

I wish I had an angel For one moment of love I wish I had your angel Your Virgin Mary undone I`m in love with my lust Burning angel wings to dust I wish I had your angel tonight (Here is in the story the guy is talking to the girl telling her I wish I could have you just once even... I wish I could have my way with you before you do anything with anyone else he is telling her I know its just lust and that this will be a sin after this you will no longer be innocent thus (burning angel wings to dust) he tells her I wish to have you tonight)

Im going down so frailn cruel Drunken disguise changes all the rules (The guy is talking to his friend/love rival now telling him I know what I did was wrong but I was drunk I had no idea what I was doing)

Old loves they die hard Old lies they die harder (Here he once again explains I was in love with her first and old loves are hard to get rid of or kill he also explains that old lies are even harder to kill)

I wish I had an angel For one moment of love I wish I had your angel Your Virgin Mary undone I`m in love with my lust Burning angel wings to dust I wish I had your angel tonight (He tells his friend/rival I wish I had your girl I still do just once more … I wish I had her one more time I'm in love with this lust and I want to take her down with me)

Greatest thrill Not to kill But to have the prize of the night Hypocrite Wannabe friend 13th disciple who betrayed me for nothing! (Here the Rival finally speaks up he tells him you did this for the trill of doing it you didn't want to kill me you wanted to make me suffer you hypocrite you pretended to be my friend only so you could get with her you betrayed me yet you still couldn't get your way she will never love you)

Last dance, first kiss Your touch my bliss Beauty always comes with dark thoughts (Here is the guy thinking alone now and with nothing gained he thinks of the things he could have had and thinks should have been his he thinks of the first kiss the last dance and being with the girl the he thinks beauty always is accompanied by dark and evil intentions)

I wish I had an angel For one moment of love I wish I had your angel Your Virgin Mary undone I`m in love with my lust Burning angel wings to dust I wish I had your angel tonight (here is the guy storming out telling him I still want her and I'm not giving up)

I first heard this song on Launch. At first I was like "Oh God...Nightwish..." then I listened to the whole thing, and was blown away. I went out and bought the CD the following paycheck.

Some can disguise [changes, all of the rules]

Thiis song is about freedom from the bounds of sexual restrictions that our christian society forces to us. The very idea of "innocennce", all this old lies will burn like angel's wings.

Where is my angel of lust? :)

P.S. To understand metal lyrics you must have a broad view of things and the capacity to see deeper. If it is tired for your mind to think and you can't understand the "stupid" lyrics of metal there are many "artists" around that have plain and simple lyrics about trendy issues that need no brain at all.

This song has nothing to do with sexual freedom or any 'blah blah'. This is a clear diss song directed to Tarja's husband(I'm not gonna call this idiot by the name) who in his long time paranoia decided to accuse Tuomas of being in love with her for no good reason. This fits perfectly with the husband's recent repeat of the accusation in 2021 which can be seen here: youtube.com/watch

where among the husband's arguments he mentions Tarja's name in the forum back then being 'Angel'. It's not a coincidence that in the song title "Wish I had an Angel" the word angel is in capital letters, indicating a proper name instead of a noun.

"I wish I had an angel for a moment of love, I wish I had YOUR angel tonight" Already in the 1st verse Tuomas strikes back, feeding the dude's paranoia. Then he proceeds:

"Deep into a dying day I took a step outside an innocent heart" Meaning he was invited by her husband to a dinner and went there with an innocent heart, he didn't expect this to be a set up as he considered him a good friend. Naturally, knowing Tarja for years, a friend of Tarja is a friend of his too right?

"Prepare to hate me fall when I may This night will hurt you like never before" Tuomas is saying he is getting back at him in this song for the husband's sneaky rat attitude.

"Old loves they die hard Old lies they die harder" Basically saying: this narcissist woman is not over me, so she is putting ideas inside her new husband's mind, so this clueless idiot will pick a fight with me. Tuomas didn't know that by doing this, she would have a good excuse to leave the band.

"I wish I had your angel Your Virgin Mary undone" Clearly, the husband is just a puppet, so he sees Tarja as a virgin Mary, but Tuomas knows her longer than him and knows her tricks. Many women marry a mule, someone to take care of stuff for her as an exchange for filling this simp's teenage dream of having someone as "awesome" as her for a wife

"I'm in love with my lust Burning angel wings to dust" As I said before, Angel was her nickname, so Tuomas is saying here that this accusation lighted up in him a desire(lust) to expose both of these phonies, specially her(burning her wings to dust) and at the same time saying he miss having sex with her and would like to have her for one night just to piss this cuck of a husband off.

"I'm going down so frail 'n cruel Drunken disguise changes all the rules" Obviously, in this dinner they started drinking and when people drink they get stupid. So here Tuomas is saying that alcohol makes us say things or exposing feelings we were hiding before.

"Greatest thrill Not to kill But to have the prize of the night" Again, Tuomas feeds the husband's paranoia by basically saying if she is doing that is because she still have feelings for him, so he(Tuomas) will end up with the prize and that's the best revenge.

"Hypocrite Wannabe friend 13th disciple who betrayed me for nothing!" Basically saying he wasn't even in love with her(so he betrayed Tuomas trust for nothing), he thought they were good friends until this snake started with the stupid accusation.

"Last dance, first kiss" He kissed Tarja first but he will have this last "dance", since clearly things weren't exactly over.

"Your touch my bliss" Basically saying 'whatever I don't care', Tuomas gives them the bless. He got with her before anyway, what does he care now?

"Beauty always comes with dark thoughts" Pretty obvious: Tarja is beautiful by the same rate she is evil/machiavellian

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
