Funnyman Lyrics
Locked inside your head
Do you realize the things you said
Never made sense?
We can sit here and laugh
But we don't know the half of it,
In your defense
We've been talking a while
And it seems to me each time you smile
Lights are coming on
But they don't burn too strong
And they won't stay for long
And then they're gone again
Funnyman, gotta try to be something wonderful
Funnyman, listening to the world turning on its sail
Turn it into a brand new universe
Funnyman could never be anything else.
Do you remember that night
When I had to play your angel
Saving your soul?
Even though you were holding on tight
A part of you was taken by the demons below
When no one to lose
Said you feel like a bruise
On a beautiful body.
And all the damage you do
Is so honest and true
I don't want to feel sorry for you
Funnyman, gotta try to be something wonderful
Funnyman, listening to the world turning on its sail
Turn it into a brand new universe
Funnyman could never be anything else.
Do you realize the things you said
Never made sense?
But we don't know the half of it,
In your defense
And it seems to me each time you smile
Lights are coming on
But they don't burn too strong
And they won't stay for long
And then they're gone again
Funnyman, listening to the world turning on its sail
Turn it into a brand new universe
Funnyman could never be anything else.
When I had to play your angel
Saving your soul?
Even though you were holding on tight
A part of you was taken by the demons below
Said you feel like a bruise
On a beautiful body.
And all the damage you do
Is so honest and true
I don't want to feel sorry for you
Funnyman, listening to the world turning on its sail
Turn it into a brand new universe
Funnyman could never be anything else.

Is she saying he's an arse but cant help it?
Isn't it about her meeting a guy on internet that pretends to be someone else than he is in real life? "Do you realize the things you said Never made sense?" May talk about the fact he lied to her "Funnyman, gotta try to be something wonderful" here too..
And in the end of the song she talks about him wanting to commit suicide? i dunno lol :s I don't think my "guess" is right about the song meaning (actually it's my first post on the site) but that's what i understand..
umm its not "Funnyman, listening to the world turning on its sail" its
"Funnyman, listening to the world turn in on its self" and "tuning in to a brand new universe" not 'turn it in to"
lol how do you edit the lyrics? or do you have to make your own?
either way i think shes talkign about someone with mental problems, like she went to the park and sat ona bench next to a nutty old man without knowing it. his mind is in his own universe and as they talk they laugh, but they dont know what about because hes quite confused.
"We can sit here and laugh But we don't know the half of it, In your defense" is saying that she cant really understand him, but its not his fault... and that she respects him anyway.. or soemthing
this song is about gordon anderson. google him. they used to live together.
Easily the best track on the album – possibly Tunstall’s best ever.
Yes, liliroze above me is correct, this song is about Gordon Anderson. He was diagnosed with Schizophrenia (despite the fact that he seemed to show the classic signs of this disease, he believes he was demonically possessed – and I suppose you never know), and the song focuses on his torment. They did indeed live together while he was suffering with this, and when he went into hospital, she visited him “pretty much every day” (to slightly misquote Tunstall). I cried more at this song than any other I’ve ever heard in my life. The idea of watching your friend lose their mind – or lose control of their mind – is a pretty harrowing one.
As for the lyrics, I agree completely R Bar-nez; also, the chorus sounds to me more like “Funnyman, got a plan to be something wonderful”, but as the lyrics have not been officially submitted anywhere, I could easily be wrong. Oh, and the line “Do you remember that night” is “Do you remember the night” (rather than “that”), I believe.
I never thought of that,,
still a very nice song! love it!
RBar-nez is right "Funnyman, listening to the world turn in on its self"
I saw her live and b4 she played this she did a whole speech about peoples mental friends, everyones got a mental friend, u no like the one that swears infromt o your mum, and if u dont think u have one, then ur probably someone elses mental friend
until i heard it was about gordon i thought it was about one of these mental friends who wanted to be more than her friend "Funnyman could never be anything else" but now it makes more sense
I went to one of her concerts and she said it was about a guy she knew who thought he was jesus.
I love this song. Thanks for the info, Tessie. I never knew any of that, but it's very interesting. It definitely gives more meaning to the song.
PS: Sylarr, you're a dork. =p
