Well her face is a map of the world
Is a map of the world
You can see she's a beautiful girl
She's a beautiful girl
And everything around her is a silver pool of light
The people who surround her feel the benefit of it
It makes you calm
She holds you captivated in her palm

Suddenly I see (suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me
(Suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me

Well I feel like walking the world
Like walking the world
And you can hear she's a beautiful girl
She's a beautiful girl
She fills up every corner like she's born in black and white
Makes you feel warmer when you're trying to remember
What you heard
She likes to leave you hanging on a wire

Suddenly I see (suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me
(Suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me

And she's taller than most
And she's looking at me
I can see her eyes looking from the page of a magazine
She makes me feel like I could be a tower
A big strong tower, yeah
The power to be, the power to give
The power to see, yeah, yeah
(Suddenly I see)
She got the power to be, the power to give
The power to see, yeah, yeah
(Suddenly I see)
She got the power to be, the power to give
The power to see, yeah, yeah, yeah
(Suddenly I see)
She got the power to be, the power to give
The power to see, yeah, yeah
(Suddenly I see)
She got the power to be, the power to give
The power to see, yeah, yeah

Suddenly I see (suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me
(Suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me, oh-oh
(Suddenly I see) hey, yeah
Suddenly I see (suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me
(Suddenly I see) yeah
Suddenly I see (suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me

I've interpreted this song somewhat differently than the previous users. I think of this as observing the happiness of another (also admiring the beauty that comes from it), and having it influence you so greatly that you want it for yourself, to continue to inspire others with.

The song is actually about how Patti Smith inspired KT to do what she does. She told us at a gig the other night.

I don't see the point of every one arguing over this song. Everyone is going to have a different opinion on what it means- music is an art form, so how each person responds to it is completely subjective. For me personally, I think the song can be interpreted as a girl/woman who has a friend whom she greatly admires and wants to be like- someone who is beautiful, inside and out; someone who lights up the room and makes others happy just to be around her etc. It could be stretched to indicate some kind of lesbian connotation in my opinion, but at face value I'd say she simply idolises this girl and wants to be like her. :) Cheers

If she told you that at a gig it's probably true, but I will always perceive it as how I did when I first heard it, which is that she's singing about herself. Now that she's famous, she suddenly sees that it's where she wants to be, why it meant so much for her to keep at it and never quit.

The lines "I can see her eyes looking from a page in a magazine Oh she makes me feel like I could be a tower A big strong tower yeah"

to me say she's seeing herself in a magazine and it sinks in that she finally made it to the big time, and she feels she can take on the world.

That's just what I've always thought!

I liked this song from the first time I heard it because of how catchy it is. Then after noticing the lyrics I LOVE this song!

I love how non-politically correct this song is, it goes against everything young women have been brainwashed to believe

There is a war against beautiful women, our culture encouages women not to look pretty or even look ugly. This song recognizes the forgotten truth that a beautiful woman has power. I especially like and agree with the lyrics about a "pool of light".

This song started playing on the radio in my town right after I achieved a very meaningful goal. I already have a happy successful life; I'm a college professor, I'm finishing up my doctorate, I have 4 great kids, I'm in love with an amazing man... but all of my adult life I've wanted to be an Air Force Officer. (That would be over 15 years). This past year, I achieved my goal. It is everything I hoped it would be. It is an amazing opportunity to be a leader to others and to serve my country... suddenly I see this is exactly what I want to be. Besides that, I want to be a role model for other Air Force women who are goal chasers. I put my goals off until it was almost too late (because of my age). I hope I have the opportunity to inspire other Air Force women to pursue their goals, to become confident leaders, and to live their dreams. Look for me driving around my town... my license plate is "SDNLYIC".

I think it is a very nice song. You are obviously some weird saddo freak who feels the need to get a really big bad responce from saying a song is terrible. Maybe erm.. get a life and if you want a real arguement have one with your imaginary mates!

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
