Did you get the invitation?
A swan song of a nation
Everyone’s waiting for you inside
We got soda pop and hickory stills
Quinn the Eskimo and espadrilles
And Sally making you feel all right

The baroness and her bayonets
The mad hatter hedging bets
Against the good judgment of the swinging king
'Cause it's the fall of the American Empire
But don't you worry honey you didn’t miss a thing

Coming from the cold like Thelon, like Thelonious did
We got our own sanctimonious kid
And he could suck the diamond off a diamond ring
Just send in the farmers and the National Guard
We'll be in the war room getting hard
Just wear your dress blues
You know you look so damn dashing

Don't be shy Sally won't bite you
Just don’t look too long at the salt of Delilah
'Cause she got her pants on fire
She got her rabid baby calling your name

Fall of the American Empire
Should've been all right
Should've, shut up
But me I'll just work in a sound bite
Just rolling my smokes tight
You know they said it was all right, all right

'Cause Lucy's in the nude
With nothing left to lose
Except them thigh high, kiss the sky
American boy

Sally got dirty with a rock musician
She met in Massachusetts
She was pleased to come to his advances
He was a man of wealthy taste
But she got so caught up by the man who would not stop
Thought?what she needed was love but it was like nothing she thought
And when Lucy came to get her said “Just leave me this way.”

Fall of the American Empire
Should've been all right
Should've, shut up
But me I'll just work in a sound bite
Just rolling my smokes tight
You know they said it was all right, all right
Alright
Alright
Alright
Mr. Holy
Alright
Alright
Alright
Where you going Mr. Holy
Cause Lucy got a found your diamond
They shine like island
From the parlor to the projects babe
she was lookin his stone/store?
oh at less and we've gone
say once you love to get her save me

Fall (all waiting for the fall of the) American empire
Oh she said she wasnt ready
Fall (we’re all in for the fall of the) American empire
Wont you just enjoy the show

I swear, someone went through and either took the lyrics from a concert where the singer felt like taking liberties with the lyrics, or just got them ridiculously wrong. This is laughably bad. goes to report wrong lyrics

Okay I'm not sure who posted the lyrics but they are really wrong like Sharp said... I checked these lyrics against the studio recording... THEY ARE CORRECT!! It changes the meaning quite significantly... Thought ya'll might like them!

Did you get the invitation? The swan song of a nation, Everyone's waiting for you inside. We got soda pop and hickory stills. Quinn the Eskimo in espadrilles, And Sally makin' you feel all right.

The baroness and her bayonets, The mad hatter hedging bets, Against the good judgment of the swinging king. It's the fall of the American empire, But don't you worry honey you didn't miss a thing.

Juiced up dignitaries getting' loose like Thelonious did, We got our own sanctimonious kid, And he can suck the diamond off a diamond ring. Just send in the farmers in the National Guard, We'll be in the war room gettin' hard, Just wear your dress blues you know you look so damn dashing. Don't be shy, Sally won't bite you, 'Cause she got her pants on fire, And she got a rabbit baby calling your name.

Fall of the American empire, It should've been all right, Should've, should've. But me, I'm just working a sound bite, Just rolling my smokes tight. You know they said it was all right, all right, all right.

'Cause Lucy's in the nude, With nothing left to lose, Except them thigh-high kiss the sky American boots.

Sally got dirty with a senator's son, You know the one from Massachusetts, She was pleased to come his advances, For he was a man of wealth and taste. But she got so cut up by the man who would not stop. Thought all she needed was love, But it was like nothing she thought, And when Lucy came to get her, In the corner she lay.

It's the fall of the American empire, It should've been all right, Should've, should've. But me, I'm just working a sound bite, Just rolling my smokes tight. You know they said it was all right, all right, all right, all right, all right. Where you going Mr. Holy? All right, all right, all right Say where you going Mr. Holy?

Lucy girl I found your diamonds, They shine like sirens, Singing from the shoals of buzzard's bay. It's worse than we know, How I wish it wasn't so, That all tomorrow's parties have gone away.

Fall (all in for the fall) of the American empire, They said you would never go away. Fall (all in for the fall) of the American empire, Lucy girl can't you just stay?

Surprisingly, queleviebien, there is acctually no deep metaphorical meaning behind this song. (Some of the verses, maybe, but the song's meaning itself is very simple.

Bacically this song tells the story of the Great Gatsby. It's about how the US govgernment is screwing everybody else in the country over, and all they're doing about it is having a huge party in the White House. The charachter Sally mentioned in soem of the verses is bacically a whore for all the politiions at said party.

This is my new favourite SR song; and I think that it really evokes the sarcastic "we're all going to kill ourselves but we don't care" message in the lyrics really well.

    ^ That's bacically it in a nutshell.

This is such a great song. When i listen to it i get the sarcastic feeling ManInTheHall talks about. And everytime it comes on i picture Chad with this HUGE grin on his face, like he had at the concert in portland when they sang this song. It was so great.

The hidden track is called "Sybil II" (Which is, naturally, the sequel to the hidden track on UATC that Chat wrote for his girlfriend.) As for lyrics, I really don't know. I did a google search for the lyrics, as well as checked CCBsayit, but I couldn't find them either. I'd recommend checking State Radio's official forums on their website; I'm sure the guys there have compiled the lyrics for it.

All i can picture when I listen to this song is a bunch of politicians as well as all the characters mentioned in the song: Lucy (from Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds), Quinn (from Quinn the Eskimo), the Mad Hatter, Sally (prostitute), and a rock star from Boston at a party with tons of politicians. While they're having the party, DC is being bombed in the background or just generally being destroyed while they go on unaffected. Well, at least that's the image I get.

It is definitely in the style of a Great Gatsby party, but it is not retelling the Great Gatsby. It's commenting in the arrogance of the United States Government as they ignore the destruction of their own empire. Chad confirms all this in the Cologne interviews, and also adds that Sally is a combination of Sally Fields (a female astronaut) and someone (I can't recall the name) who was rumored to have run an escort service in the white house. In addition I expect that this may have been a reaction to the obscene amounts of cash spent on the republican national convention--- a huge multi-million dollar party that's essentially useless in that nothing new is announced.

Its pretty much just showing how the government is bringing down itself, just because we elect them doesn't mean they become saints. The united states government is one of the most corrupt governments to ever exist. Don't ever trust your government, because your government doesn't trust you.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
