Can you see your reflection
False strength, hollow protection
Run from pain and rejection
The truth stabs again
Till the skin is broken
And the cut is open
And the words once spoken
Just fade away

Too late, standing on the trap door
Too late, standing on the trap door
Too late, standing on the trap door
Too late, standing on the trap door

Big head leads to confusion
Strong heart pumps up delusion
Tough talk, one voice communion
Medicate the pain
Justify your ego
Living with denial
And the thoughts so vile
Won't fade away

Too late, standing on the trap door
Too late, standing on the trap door
Too late, standing on the trap door
Too late, standing on the trap door

It's coming
You're falling
You're on your own with no one left to blame

Can't sleep 'cause you've made your own bed
The sentence of the helpless
Sink deep to the trial in your head
The court of the selfish
Why? Tell me why? Can't evade or escape the reality

A true lie and a broken promise
A Judas and a doubting Thomas
A tragedy just to keep you honest
Guilty always fall

Through the trap door
Fear the trap door
Through the trap door
The trap door, the trap door

No fear, too scared to look up
Can't win, nothing but bad luck
Clock ticks, your time to face up
You can't run for long
When your world is broken
Your trap door is open
The very words you choke on
Just fade away

Too late, standing on the trap door
Too late, standing on the trap door
Too late, standing on the trap door
Too late, standing on the trap door

    My Interpretation

The song is about how lying is digging your own grave, which is what "can't sleep because you made your own bed" refers to. The truth is depicted as the source of pain for the person in the song, "the truth stabs again".

The Judas and Thomas part refers to that person being like a combination of those two, a traitor and someone who won't believe the truth.

The song ends with the lies falling apart, and the person being left with nothing anymore.

No comments?!? this song is awesome. From what I understand, this song is about someone betraying your or backstabbing you, and now that person lives in fear that your gunna get your revenge

When someone said some words The words actually fade away Bıt they stabbed and cut a wound He saw a reflection that he never did His false strength And in realty an empty protection They Fade away too He actually had always run away from pain and rejection

Too much thinking leads to confusion so he rather he tried to justify his ego, talked tough, he made his one way communication just for his ego, so that he ran away from his pains…but he was Living with denial…now these unpleasent thoughts won't fade away after this reflection

A true lie is Judas, a broken promise is doubting Thomas This tragedy story was just to keep you honest! But you were guilty…and guilty always fall

He tough he never had any fear but he actually was too scared to face the truth…. The truth is we all die, and nearing death makes him to remember face death Can't win, nothing but bad luck Clock ticks, time comes to face the truth He is old and can't run for long His world of false presumtions is now broken Your trap door is open The very words that he said so selfishly and choke on

He can't sleep 'cause he made his choices that made him so his sentence is helpless trials in his head as he feels guilty courts why he was always so selfish and now alone

The key moment comes… “Why? Tell me why? Can't evade or escape the realiity..

He still wants to escape the reality, to his smooth world where he is the hero and his tough talks create one voice communion…

You are not alone Ozzy, we love you as you are????

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
