Caveman Jam Lyrics
You caught me on my way to destroy stages
You stopped me, bitter faced, to ask me this
"Yo, I don't understand your agitation
Why can't your write a track that's sensitive?"
It isn't becasue I just didn't think about it.
It isn't because I just can't.
Little Man
I wish I could
You took a step back when I started howling
You turned and told your friends with hostile frowns
"This dude is furious I don't quite get it
I wonder why he doesn't just calm down"
It isn't because I just didn't think about it.
It isn't because I just can't.
Little girl, I wish I could.
I made my way back to merch booth after.
A man confronts me, smiling ear to ear.
The sweat is dripping from his face in gallons
And all he wants to do is shake my hand.
(Then he) Stops to tell me he'd be six feet under
That is, if it wasn't for our caveman jams.
You stopped me, bitter faced, to ask me this
"Yo, I don't understand your agitation
Why can't your write a track that's sensitive?"
It isn't because I just can't.

You turned and told your friends with hostile frowns
"This dude is furious I don't quite get it
I wonder why he doesn't just calm down"

The song was made in reference to an actual night that Schwab (the lead singer) experienced. In a book he wrote, he tells of a bad night he was having that eventually made itself right in the end. This song is (mostly) a true story.
You caught me on my way to destroy stages You stopped me, bitter faced, to ask me this "Yo, I don't understand your agitation Why can't your write a track that's sensitive?"
Schwab was running late for a show one night, and when he was going across the parking lot, an angry father and his son stopped him, with "bitter faces." The father and son had enjoyed the previous album from Project 86, but the new one (Truthless Heroes), had, in their opinion, been depressive and devoid of hope. They "couldn't understand" his "agitation," and wanted him to "write a track that's sensitive."
So Schwab got to the show late. It was a low turnout at a small-time gig. A group of girls were right in front of the stage, grabbing at his legs, giggling to themselves. After the show, Schwab overheard them chattering about the music and how angry it was. "This dude is furious, I don't quite get it. I wonder why he doesn't just calm down."
After the show Schwab went "to the merch booth", in case anyone would want autographs. He was feeling depressed because of how things were going related to the band, the record label, the turnout of the show, the father and son from earlier, and the music in general. A young man came up to Schwab, but wanted to talk with him in private. So they went to the tour bus to talk. The kid was drugged up (the "sweat dripping from his face in gallons" describing his obvious nervous and possibly high appearance). He told Schwab of how the powerful lyrics and the music itself had actually kept him from committing suicide. "All he wants to do is shake my hand," to thank Schwab for the music, for otherwise "he'd be six feet under," that is, if it wasn't for the "caveman jams" of Project 86.
This is perhaps the easiest song to interpret. It's simply about all of the people that don't understand why Andrew Schwab is so intense and why the music is so hard. They complain about the music and Andrew Schwab.
Then he talks about all of the people that come up to him and tell him how much their music means to them. Like me.
Their music means a lot to me, and everytime I see Project 86, I always tell Andrew how much I appreciate what he is doing and how much his music has helped me.
ha... cant add to that, one shot one hit.
Wow i have got to read the book. those lyrics are so deep.
