Illuminate Lyrics
Night falls
Like a vulture
On it's prey
Wicked culture
Black pitch and getting darker
It's time to spark ourselves in this hour
When they hide in the shadows of night
Light em up
Light em up
In the dark let's ignite
We're the ones
You're laid bare
Foolish mortal
Dark deeds
Mass inferno
Covert crimes
Closet portal
Your skeletons are burning eternal
Like a vulture
On it's prey
Wicked culture
Black pitch and getting darker
It's time to spark ourselves in this hour
Light em up
Light em up
In the dark let's ignite
We're the ones
Foolish mortal
Dark deeds
Mass inferno
Covert crimes
Closet portal
Your skeletons are burning eternal

'In isolation lies depravity. As long as you stay alone you will writhe in agony. But when the darkest of deeds are exposed for what they are they are disarmed. This is the disarming.' - Andrew Schwab
Well can some one say this in a summary thats easier to understand?
Cuz i'm pretty sure that Schwabbie knows what his songs are about but I took it like this, that as Christians we need to shine our light on the "Foolish mortals". And me being a teenager and all I see this song everyday as my peers and friends do drugs and I try to spread the word to them. My friends are "Foolish mortals" with their "Dark deeds" which will result in hell the "Mass inferno", they do their "Covert crimes" or partying or sex or w/e, and put things or hide them in their closet, closet the problem/hide the problem "Closet portal", once again if they dont change their ways their "skeletons are burning eternal" in hell.
this song is about witnessing to an evil world.
it's about exposing sin. when there sin hidden in darkness, in secret, it can overcome you. you tell yourself you just can' tell anyone else because they wouldn't understand. you tell yourself not to tell anyone else, you'll solve it on your own, but that's when it grows and takes over you. it takes massive light to expose what's been hidden and concealed out of shame. though it's extremely uncomfortable and paionful, tehre's always a shot at redemption and recovery in the end. you just have to look for and accept it. that's what Jesus offers. He doesn't point the finger at you and say "oh man! you really screwed up this time! I can't believe you would do such a thing!!" He says, "okay you're human, you messed. wanna try again? want a second chance? do you want to be forgiven?"
i hope that makes sense.
