to me this song is about someone who is always really depressed - their past is something that they can't forget about in their day to day life. or just a lot of tragic events lead up to the depressed person she is. but when something she doesn't expect will happen - when a wrong turns right, she feels herself go from feeling dark to light

The difference between Past and Present and 7/4 Shoreline is that the second is actually a pretty good song.Past In Present's lyrics are ridiculously redundant.

the song probably sounds familiar to broken social scene, because she IS in broken social scene. other female artist that are in bss- the stars singer amy millan and metric singer emily haines
