Tulsa Lyrics
You taste of potato chips in the morning
Your face has the Marlon Brando club calling
And who would have thought that I'd owe it all to Tulsa?
And that fat guy with the green shirt that we both signed together
Once he hears the song, won't live it down forever
Your suit was the whitest thing since you-know-who
I fear that that savior I mentioned may be you
And who would have thought that I'd owe it all to Tulsa?
And that poor girl who waited in the rain for hours to meet me (not you, baby!)
Once she hears that song, won't live it down completely
And I owe it all to Tulsa, Oklahoma
This is just a reminder of the antique shop that I want to go back to and visit when it's open
In Tulsa, Oklahoma
Just in case you don't appreciate this song about you!

Rufus said it was a fictional gay relationship with Brandon. They met, Brandon said he was flattered by the song, but they didn't actually hook up or anything.
With that said, it's very cute! :)
^ lol I love Rufus. But they didn't sleep together...
"I don't know if Brandon's heard it yet; he might be completely horrified. But I was, once again, 'Thanks a lot, thanks a lot for not sleeping with me so I can write a song about you.'"
Some article...
However, the song does seem to imply heavily that Brandon and Rufus had some sort of gay interaction: "you taste of potato chips in the morning". Also, Rufus refers to Brandon as "the saviour he spoke of" in a previous classic song i.e. Gay Messiah. Perhaps a pointed attempt to out Flowers?
I dont think it's ALL about Brandon Flowers because it sounds like he is mentioning colourful fans in Tulsa.Brandon is married...to a WOMAN-lol-But the Killers do have the song "Andy, your a star"about a gay stalking,so you never know!
This song is about Brandon Flowers, the font man for The Killers. Rufus and Brandon met in Tulsa and Rufus wrote this song about him. It was mentioned in a few articles.
Yeah, because I'm an Oklahoman, and he played at the Brady when the Killers were playing at Cain's. I went to Rufus's show, which was super-amazing, so this song kind of flatters me because I was there!
Yeah, at his concert here in Toronto on Monday he mentioned it being about Brandon Flowers. Then he went on saying "I don't know whether he knows it's about him or not... when he finds out he'll either sue me... or suck me... I'm not sure which"
Maybe they hooked up. Who knows.
I love this song. It's a happy little tune.
hahahahaha wtf!! i know this song is about flowers but it's so weird
Even before this song came out, there were people who "shipped" Rufus with Brandon Flowers. You can find online communities dedicated to the fictional relationship. This might have inspired Rufus to write the song as well, but I don't know.
