Jane S. Piddy Lyrics

Now you sit there thinking feeling insecure
The mocking court gesture (jester) claims there is no proven cure
Go back to your chamber, your eyes upon the wall
'Cos you got no one to listen, you got no one to call

And you think I'm curious

Drifting, drowning in a purple sea of doubt
You wanna hear she loves you,
but the words don't fit the mouth
You're a loser, a rebel, a cause without

But don't think me callous

Dancing Rosemary, disappearing sister Ruth
It's just your yellow appetite
that has you choking on the truth
You gave in, you gave out, outlived your dream of youth

And I can't get jealous

So go on, you'll continue with your nose so open wide
Knocking on that door that says Hurry come inside
But don't bother to buy insurance 'cos you've already died

And you can't be serious

I saw my reflection in my father's final tears
The wind was slowly melting, San Francisco disappears
Acid heads, unmade beds, and you Woodward world queers

I know you're lonely
I know you're lonely
I know you're lonely...

Thanks for your time
And you can thank me for mine
And after that's said
Forget it.

Bag it, man

A song about the singers father. I dont know if it is Rodriguezs father. Probably a caricature.

Song Meaning

man I think it's WAYYY more than that, way to simple, this is a song for the real ones.

My Opinion

Thanks for the reply mate What do you mean by "a song for the real ones"?

he saw his reflection in his fathers final tears. The tension between them was slowly disappearing.

I think our fathers relationship (often a fractured relationship as in this song) with his family is one of the most real things in life and there are very few songs that explore that. Rodrigeous was doing that in his early 20s.

Rosmary is carrying on in a way he disapproves of, Ruth has already disappeared, he has not lived his dreams of youth and his...

@ChrisWilmott where in this song does it talk about anyones "deathbed"? you've really took this one to a level that might be more befitting to your own personal experience, this song is about himself and for the few who might can relate... his life was such a peculiar one as a drifter/vagabond and a frequent buyer of prostitutes, he really just is writing about how he really has died inside and has no more joy and bitterly recalls the last meeting with his father.... love yourself bro, do not deny your ambitions, SEEK YE FIRST the Kingdom of God...

Well, I'm not a native speaker, but I think at least the first part of the song deals with the subject of rejected love. I don't think the entire first verse is about his (or any others) father. phrases like "purple sea of doubt" and especially "It's just your yellow appetite that has you choking on the truth" is about jealousy. Not easy to understand the second part of the song, the verses about his dying father and the San Francisco scene of hippies (acid heads) and "Woodward World Queers" maybe describes a (dying) counter culture?
