I hope the ring you gave to her
Turns her finger green
I hope when you're in bed with her
You think of me
I would never wish bad things
But I don't wish you well
Could you tell
By the flames that burned your words
I never read your letter
'Cause I knew what you'd say
Give me that Sunday school answer
Try make it all OK

Does it hurt
To know I'll never be there
But it sucks
To see my face everywhere
It was you
Who chose to end it like you did
I was the last to know
You knew
Exactly what you would do
And don't say
You simply lost your way
She may believe you
But I never will
Never again

If she really knows the truth
She deserves you
A trophy wife, oh, how cute
Ignorance is bliss
But when your day comes
And he's through with you
And he'll be through with you
You'll die together, but alone
You wrote me in a letter
You couldn't say it right to my face
Well, give me that Sunday school answer
Repent yourself away

Does it hurt
To know I'll never be there
But it sucks
To see my face everywhere
It was you
Who chose to end it like you did
I was the last to know
You knew
Exactly what you would do
And don't say
You simply lost your way
She may believe you
But I never will
Never again

Never again will I hear you
Never again will I miss you
Never again will I fall to you
Never
Never again will I kiss you
Never again will I want to
Never again will I love you
Never

Does it hurt
To know I'll never be there
But it sucks
To see my face everywhere
It was you
Who chose to end it like you did
I was the last to know
You knew
Exactly what you would do
And don't say
You simply lost your way
They may believe you
But I never will
I never will
I never will
Never again

I think this is about how her boyfriend who she thought she loved cheated on her and married the other girl. I think she wrote this about the same situation in Behind These Hazel Eyes.

    My Interpretation

I've always thought that, in this song, the guy murdured his girlfriend and is now she's haunting him. Also, I've assumed that he was having a string of affairs with his new wife and has a history of killing the women he was close to. It also gives the repeated phrase 'never again' a whole new meaning, as in she will literally never again be able to do those things. Take the second verse: If she really knows the truth, She deserves you (Saying that if she is still with him and knows he's killed and about his string of women, she must have a lot of faith in him) A trophy wife, oh how cute (Implying that she thinks that their relationship is little more than that) Ignorance is bliss (Saying that she knows she won't know until it happens to her) But when your day comes, And he's through with you, And he'll be through with you, (This implies that he's never going to hold down a relationship; also backs up the serial killer theory) You'll die together but alone (Saying that, although they're married, they'll never love each other) You wrote me in a letter What you couldn't say to my face (The way I interpreted it was that he left this 'letter' on her grave, begging for forgiveness) Well give me that Sunday school answer Repent yourself away! (Saying that she'll never forgive him, even if he apologized to her grave)

i love how revengeful this song is. i don't really like the sound of it, to poppy. but the lyrics are amazing. so much fucking rage! i can def relate to this song. it's about a guy that left her moving on with someone new, and she doesn't wish them happiness.

this song. is freaking. INCREDIBLE. my last boyfriend kept me a secret from his friends because they don't like me for almost a whole YEAR. and he was "so upset he had to break up with me". yeah. he had a new girlfriend 2 weeks later.

"If she really knows the truth She deserves you A trophy wife Oh how cute Ignorance is bliss" Here. Is where I really relate. I think he told her a fluff story so she wouldn't see him for who he truly is. My ex was an asshole, and apparently so is Kelly's. More power to you, Kelly!

I loved this song when it first came out, but I can really relate to it now....

Obviously about a guy that screwed her over but tried to give her the answers he thought she wanted. She was just tired of being treated like crap, and hopes he gets what's coming to him. Like she said, she doesn't wish bad things... but she definitely doesn't wish him well.

Ah, the perfect angry break-up song!

I'm just going to be a jerk and say this is from Big Brother's point of view in 1984.

Think about it! "Bet it sucks to see my face everywhere" "You chose to end it like you did" "When you're in bed with her you think of me" "Don't say you simply lost your way"

Then he talks about them being "trophy wives" and how they'll die "together but alone" (remember in the book how the marriages were terrible?)

But of course, the real kicker is "Ignorance is Bliss". Almost from the ministry of ignorance itself!

Don't get me wrong, I do like the song. ;)

This song is amazing .. well the remix version anyway! To me this song is about that guy that ended it with you and is now moving on but you don't wish them happiness. Its like a more revengeful Since you been gone!

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
