Fate leave on my doorstep
A soldier, a soldier
A fable, a fortune
I long for, I long for

Ever so secret I see
What's in store for me
I won't let it mislead
Oh no.
No, it hasn't happened yet

As for the dying
And the fading
And resolve to be
Okay with the natural decay
I'll choose illusion
And safety a hundred times over
I'm prepared to be happy and deceived
I'm supposed to be happy and deceived

Let us find perfection
And nonsense in all we are
Save defects for later
We're angels for now

Hide my uniform pride
Your arrogant side
I'm aching already
Hide your taciturn, mundane expressions
Affection will carry us a little while more

As for the dying
And the fading
And resolve to be
Okay with the natural decay
I'll choose illusion
And safety a hundred times over
I'm prepared to be happy and deceived
I'm supposed to be happy and deceived

Let us be entertained
Let me believe it ends this way

As for the dying
And the fading
And resolve to be
Okay with the natural decay
I'll choose illusion
And safety a hundred times over
I'm prepared to be happy and deceived
I'm supposed to be happy and deceived

I'm prepared to be happy and deceived
Drop this curtain
I'm happy and naive

"Let us find perfection and nonsense in all we are. Save defects for later, we're angels now"

I think this song is about living a life where you dont care what happens, where youre "happy and naive". Dont care about death just deal with that day in life.

This song makes me think of war. Specifically a war during the "Age of Disillusionment", like Vietnam or even Iraq. The chorus definately sounds like it:

"As for the dying And the fading And resolve to be Okay with the natural decay I'll choose illusion And safety a hundred times over I'm prepared to be happy and deceived I'm supposed to be happy and deceived"

Yes, I've seen an interview where Dia talks about how they feel about war and they think its just very wrong and doesn't do anything except shed innocent blood. Yeah, this song really reminds me of war

This song also reminds of a war, but this what I think the song means

"Fate leave on my doorstep A soldier, a soldier" - The fate of a soilder haunts her.

"Ever so secret I see What's in store for me" - Secrecly she's always thinking about soilder's fates.

"I won't let it mislead Oh no. No, it hasn't happened yet" - She wont let her thoughts about it refelct on her?)

"As for the dying And the fading And resolve to be" - As for the dying and fading of soilder's and resolve to be means if they havent died yet they eventually will die.

"Okay with the natural decay" - She's ok with the thought of them dying naturally but it bothers her that they will die in a fight and not naturally.

"I'll choose illusion And safety a hundred times over" - If it was up to her then she would choose being safe and staying out of the whole army fighting mess.

"I'm prepared to be happy and deceived I'm supposed to be happy and deceived" - She's prepared and sopposed to stop thinking about it?

"Let us find perfection And nonsense in all we are Save defects for later We're angels for now" - This part is talking about forgetting about the bad stuff and living life good and worry about the effects later.

"Hide my uniform pride Your arrogant side I'm aching already" - It means stop acting arrongant and stuck up and she's tired of it.

"Hide your taciturn, mundane expressions Affection will carry us a little while more" - This means to stop being so plain not caring about the sistuation cause the situation will stay for a long time.

"Let us be entertained Let me believe it ends this way" - This means to let her be enertained by the sisuation, wanting to think its not happining.

"Drop this curtain I'm happy and naive" - She wants it to end so she can be naive and happy.

yeah thats what I think of this song. My other theory of this song is about ghost of past soilder's haunting her and she's trying to make herself think it's not happining. But yeah, thats another story.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
