The Foetus Of A New Day Kicking Lyrics
I’m chaos international
The writing on the wall
A Lazarus in parable
A dark and sullen lullaby
Whispered softly as you die
Promising torments are nigh
Danger warning levels hissed out loud
I saw the silver lining hidden in a mushroom cloud
Now I’m reeling from the shock at ground zero
If yesterday you would have stood up proud
Then why tonight have you thrown in with the stoning crowd?
I’ll breathe through the foetus of a new day kicking…
The foetus of a new day kicking
It’s true that Jesus cannot save
I worship from the grave
To put my double cross to shame
A poison rush, a heart attack
A white assassin painted black
You’ll fear this reaper coming back
Danger warning levels hissed out loud
I saw the silver lining hidden in a mushroom cloud
Now I’m reeling from the shock at ground zero
If yesterday you would have stood up proud
Then why tonight have you thrown in with the stoning crowd?
I’ll breathe through the foetus of a new day kicking…
On a night like this
You lay the serpent’s kiss
In this garden of Gethsemane
You played the traitor well…
In a dawn to come
I will blind the sun
To grant you pardon as my enemy
Before damning you to hell…
Danger warning levels hissed out loud
I saw the silver lining hidden in a mushroom cloud
Now I’m reeling from the shock at ground zero
If yesterday you would have stood up proud
Then why tonight have you thrown in with the stoning crowd?
I’ll breathe through the foetus of a new day kicking

my favorite of the album, pure art
Agreed Peace. Best of them all in my opinion.

I watched an interview with Dani on FUSE one time and he was talking about Thornography. Point blank the interviewer asked him what Foetus of a New Day Kicking was about. He told her that the song was about preserverance. You get knocked down you get right back up. It was his way of saying the old line "Oh Well Tomorrow is another day".

In this song Dani is personifying himself as Jesus in Jerusalem after the last supper. I think Dani is too intelligent for the song to simply be about Judas, that's too obvious, so I think it's more about Peter denying that he's a desciple. Maybe it's just me that thinks this though.
whos going to see cradle on 18/12/06 if you are see ya there if not well to bad to be honest
This song is about not giving back and striking back. Not so much revenge per se, but standing up and facing life. Being a man ... or woman. It's a real good fight-for-your-right song in my opinion. It's about seizing your chance in the new day and running with it. Go to Cradle's website if you want an exact explanation from Dani himself.
I dunno I think riveroflethe is on to something but I'm not sure if the interpretation provided is 100% accurate... It could be that the point of view changes from Jesus to Judas (or someone else) throughout the song... I believe the first verse, chorus and final verse is from the perspective of Jesus (although the chorus is ambigous and could be from either's point of view) and the second verse is possibly from Judas' perspective (due to the references to the traitor kiss and the silver lining in the mushroom cloud)
oh yeah I think this is one of the better tracks of the album with Byronic Man, even though its kinda different, I dunno I just like that song...
i think it has to do with 9/11
I guess it could be about pretty much anything.
I think that there is an awful lot of religious referances in the song (more than usual) and it reminded me of Damnation and a Day.
It could be about general rebelion or 9/11, or maybe something totally different, I think that's why I love the band. They're so ambigous and bizarre.
riveroflethe, what came to my mind when i read the lyrics of this song was 9/11. i think dani refers to the chaos it caused, the torment people felt;
A dark and sullen lullaby Whispered softly as you die Promising torments are nigh
i think this is saying that people pray for there loved ones to be alright and they are just being tormented with promises that they will be ok.
these are very moving lyrics and dani has impressed yet again
this is my favorite song on thornography. It can mean lots of different things. Definetly one of COFs more positive songs, like dani said. This song is so fucking amazing.
