I'm waiting In my cold cell
When the bell begins to chime
Reflecting on my past life and it doesn't have much time
'Cause at five o'clock they take me to the gallows pole
The sands of time for me are running low

Motherfuckers!

Running low

When the priest come's to read me the last rites
I take look through the bars at the last sights
Of a world that has gone very wrong for me

Can it be that there's some sort of error
Hard to stop the surmounting terror
Is it really the end not some crazy dream

Somebody please tell me that I'm dreaming it's not easy to stop from screaming
But words escape me when I try to speak
Tears they flow but why am I crying after all I'm not afraid of dying
Don't believe that there never is an end

As the guards march me out of the courtyard
Someone calls from a cell:"God be with you"
If there's an god why has he let me die!

As I walk through the drifts before me
And though the end is near I''m not sorry
Catch my soul 'cause it's willing fly away

Mark my words believe my soul lives on
Please don't worry now that I have gone
I've gone beyond to seek the truth

When you know that your time is at close hand
Maybe then you begin to understand why

this song is one of the best songs ive heard in a long time this version is better than the iron maiden version in my opinion this song is about a man who has committed heinous crimes and is about to be hung for his crimes and this song tells the story of what he is thinkin and doing b4 he is about to die and how he thinks god has foresaken him

I think this song is about a man that has been charged with crimes that he did not commit. The songs has a great first-person POV to it, which makes it easy to place yourself in that situation.

i think this song is about a person who is on death row and is going to die but he cant do anything wrong, for it was a crime he didnt commit.

This song is about the old witch trials hundreds of years ago. People were killed like filthy animals for entertainment in front of cheering crowds just because they were considered to be witches. And the only reason they were was so society could have a scapegoat to blame for their own mistakes. The exacutions were all comitted in the name of God hence the name of the song.

This cover sounds far better than the origional, the same can be said for their cover of Slayer's "Hell awaits".

These guys sure knows how to make covers, I have to admit, but that´s also the only thing they rule at (except there old stuff, witchwas great). Anyway this and Black Metal are there to best covers and songs, they ever made, but it doesn´t make a band rule just being able to make other ppls music sound better.

This is one of my favourite Cradle covers. Not my favourite Cradle song altogether, but it's my favourite cover - especially since they made an Iron Maiden song sound good, which I didn't think was possible. *coughs*

Such a wicked song. Totally one of my favourites. Iron Maiden did an incredible original version and Cradle of Filth improved it greatly cuz they are so fucking awesome. It's about a guy who is about to be executed and he is freaking out although he's never been scared of any of this stuff before and he's wondering why all that bad shit is happening to him. He wants to wake up and have things go back to normal.
