The Greatest Gift of God Lyrics
Flase prophets rule your life
The whole world absorbed by the darkness in your heart
Only flames of sorrow light your way through the night
Your hands will never touch his face
False prophets rule your life
As you poison the river of life, erasing the greatest gift of God
All you need is in yourself
False prophets rule your life
The whole world absorbed by the darkness in your heart
Only flames of sorrow light your way through the night
Your hands will never touch his face
False prophets rule your life
As you poison the river of life, erasing the greatest gift of God
All you need is in yourself
False prophets rule your life

theres a reference to god in this song, but i dont think the song is religious or anything. i think this song is more about oppresion in general
i think its saying that we don't need a church for anything (especially the catholic church, after all, all the pope does is get a palace and heaps of bling for telling people to worship god)
exactly this song is refurring to how we dont need a pastor to tell us how to live like tha catholic churches and that we can teach our selves how to live and how to interpret tha "bible" so in a way it is religious cause it's saying we ourselves need to learn about god, not be told by someone else
I think one's interpretation of this song depends much on one's interpretation of its title. "The Greatest Gift of God" is the "divine spark" that slumbers in each man and woman - which is free will and the abilities of awareness and knowledge. In gnosis it is said that this divine spark slumbers in everyone and must be discovered by its bearer in order to lift him above the ties of materialism. In the literature of late antiquity the term "gnostic" described intellectuals in general.
God has created man in His own likeness but everyone who refuses to awake the spark in him, that is to live his life consciously and to think for himself instead of simply letting himself be ruled by "false prophets", will "never touch His face".
Who you are is but a stepping stone to what you can become. All you need is in yourself.
I think this song is not just about religion, pastors telling you how to live. I interpret it more general, in my opinion it's against everything/everybody who tells you how to live your life. We should live the way we want, not the way somebody else tells us to do.
I don't think the song has so much to do with god, but rather with nature, which could be seen as the greatest gift of god. "As you poison the river of life, erasing the greatest gift of God" This line for example describes how nature gets destroyed through the people in modern times, maybe through excessive consumerism, praised by the "False prophets that rule our lifes" which could maybe represent media and tv corporations, or jut television in general. Then the next line could mean that you don't need all these material goods that they want you to buy and that the key to happiness lies in yourself or something like that. I have no idead what lines 2 - 4 mean, though and the rest is only my own interpretation
