Follow and Feel Lyrics
Don't let them know you're watching their situation crumble
These things, they take time
And they know, yes they know they should be better now
She's watching me awkwardly from a distance
Should I care?
Is there something more I should have known?
I know that I wonder
They took his crown, there's nothing more left of him now
(but he will be ok)
I appreciate, now that they chose to ignore
I can set her free to go without a payment
She's watching me awkwardly from a distance
Should I care?
Is there something more I should have known?
I know that I wonder
Will she go or follow?
Follow, please follow me home
Follow, please follow me home
This won't end like last time
The things you swore, they never made me feel anymore
She's watching me awkwardly from a distance
Should I care?
Is there something more I should have known?
I don't need to wonder
These things, they take time
And they know, yes they know they should be better now
Should I care?
Is there something more I should have known?
I know that I wonder
(but he will be ok)
I appreciate, now that they chose to ignore
I can set her free to go without a payment
Should I care?
Is there something more I should have known?
I know that I wonder
Follow, please follow me home
Follow, please follow me home
This won't end like last time
The things you swore, they never made me feel anymore
Should I care?
Is there something more I should have known?
I don't need to wonder

I think this song is about a guy who likes a girl and thinks maybe she likes him back but it wouldn't work out because of social barriers. He's messing up the signals and he wants to leave the situation and forget and hope that she follows him, he wants a definite sign.
"I appreciate, now that they choose to ignore I can't set her free to go without a payment"
The "people" or whatever, the society that sets the social boundaries didn't get involved but as he's trying to break away he has pain, kinda like a payment plan on his pain until he totally forgets her.
Honestly, the way Saosin writes is somewhat abstract and it's hard to decipher and I could be completely wrong, but that's what it means to me.
Don't let them know you're watching their situation crumble These things, they take time And they know, yes they know they should be better now [ i think the writer is talking about his situation from third person, kind of saying how he knows his situation with the girl is crumbling, probably after the break up, they probably are still hurt about the break up, and they both know thing should be better. they probably couldnt be together]
She's watching me awkwardly from a distance Should I care? Is there something more I should have known? I know that I wonder [the girl is watching him from a distance, and the guy is asking if he should care that she is still paying attention to him, maybe it can be something else, maybe he shouldve listened to her when she had to say something and he decided not to (obviously)
They took his crown, there's nothing more left of him now (but he will be ok) I appreciate, now that they chose to ignore I can set her free to go without a payment (his friends are probably bagging on him for being so stuck on a girl but they finally choose to just ignore him and his problems. maybe others too were interfering with their relationship, but not that they stopped, he can set her free, let her go, without her having to pay anything of it [no more talking about her])
She's watching me awkwardly from a distance Should I care? Is there something more I should have known? I know that I wonder (look above)
Will she go or follow? Follow, please follow me home Follow, please follow me home This won't end like last time The things you swore, they never made me feel anymore (he is asking her to follow him, to go after him, and he wont end it like last time, he wont ignore her like he did. Im not sure about the last line)
She's watching me awkwardly from a distance Should I care? Is there something more I should have known? I don't need to wonder (look above)
This song takes place in the moment of time where the bridge goes "Will she go or follow" and the rest of the song seems to be reviewing every aspect of every interaction the protagonist has had with a girl. At this point where he is asking her to follow him home, he has come to the conclusion that despite a huge lack of communication that has loomed over them since (whatever incident "this won't end like last time" is referring to) the two of them are seriously in love and silently in his own head he is begging her...
This song takes place in the moment of time where the bridge goes "Will she go or follow" and the rest of the song seems to be reviewing every aspect of every interaction the protagonist has had with a girl. At this point where he is asking her to follow him home, he has come to the conclusion that despite a huge lack of communication that has loomed over them since (whatever incident "this won't end like last time" is referring to) the two of them are seriously in love and silently in his own head he is begging her just to give him one little sign that he's right. The last lines go "Is there something more I should have known?/I don't need to wonder" and this is where the meaning of the song comes out and he flatly states that knowing nothing for sure about something so crucial to him is not productive and he's tired of being weak and tired of basing all his conclusions about this relationship on awkward moments and distance.
Cove's lyrics often shift from first to third person so theres many ways to interepret all of his songs, but for Follow and Feel I think that the only two characters are him and the girl and when he refers to either of them as "they" its almost like going from a first person POV camera angle in a movie to a wide angle shot. The chorus and the bridge feel very intimate I think the reason he uses first person there is that he's describing experiences he has had himself on his own time.
The title Follow and Feel I think is addressing the communication issue between the two, because the following is obviously talking about the bridge, "Follow, please follow me home" and I think she may have followed him home a few times and thats partly how the two of them feel out or gauge whats going on between them instead of actually talking about it.

The lyrics speak for themselves. I just want to comment how much I like this song. I can't wait to see them at the Troubadore on the 26th!
This won't end like last time
I think this song is about a girl who left her boyfriend and now she's watching as his life is falling apart. I really like this song as well, I think it's my favorite on the CD. I especially like the bridge part.
great drumming! =P
very, very good
i totally agree with nevertangible...the lyrics are evident
drumming is kickass. as is usual for saosin. ;)
i take the song to be a girl secretly liking a guy. that's just from that first line in the chorus; "She's watching me awkwardly from a distance / Should I care?" and the bridge saying, " Will she call or follow? / Follow, please follow me home"
i freakin love this song, especially the bridge
Will she call or follow? Follow, please follow me home Follow, please follow me home This won't end like last time The things you swore, they never made me feel anymore
awesome song
