Adalae Lyrics
Weirdly catchy song. I think it's about a girl who's life's gone to hell, turning tricks or something, and he's telling her not to give up on the little she has left? I'm probably wrong, that's just how I hear it.
I think it's about a girl that's trying to make it big, but since she's so poor, she has to do degrading things to make a living
"So arch your back girl cause you're always on display And you know you're only worth what you get paid"
I think this song is about a girl he know's or used to be friends/going out with and now a lot has changed and she's working on the streets as a prostitute: "Adalae, everybody knows you're working hard Adalae, you see the sunset on the boulevard"
"So arch your back girl cause you're always on display, And you know you're only worth what you get paid"
But she's keeping her head held high and pretending everything's ok, even though those who care about her can easily see how messed up her life is: "Adalae, you're only social on the stimulants It's ok cause everybody knows your circumstance"
"You've got it all but still you wear a disguise"
And then he's just trying to get it across to her, that she doesn't have to do this: "Whatever you do, don't you apologize, Nobody can buy your love"
love this song. so catchy and cute. ummm i think this lyriccc.... "With these complaints for dedications tried and true And since you always get your way, this one's for you"
maybe Adalae had always wanted a song written for her and now shes finally getting her song. maybe shes like a groupie or something. but at the same time i agree with the whole prostitute thing. iono. yeaaa...thats just what i think.
im probably wrong, but this song to me seems like Adalae is a sly-talking, manipulating ("you're only precious til you meet your needs" and "you always get your way") girl who has always wanted to be famous and keeps telling people she one day will be- "you say we'll see you on the silver screen" and "your only enemy's the calender"- meaning its only time and how its flying past that is getting in the way.
like, hes singing to a woman who is well past the age of becoming famous yet she still believes she'll make it...
and in the first verse, i think the "town" hes refering to is HollyWood...
i think by the end, everyone knows she'll never make it and that her lifes down the drain "It's ok cause everybody knows your circumstance" but she still tries and still puts up this front that shes worth alot, "And you know you're only worth what you get paid" (a play on words, this could be a compliment in her eyes and an insult in his?), "Nobody can buy your love"
i think that last one is also a play... like, you might say that to someone who was nice because you know they're a good person whio can't be bought... but hes saying it to her because she thinks shes worth far more money than anyone would pay...
