This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
Knock knock knock
before you enter cause the chances are I'm with another
on the floor all tangled up trying to forget when we were sober
so knock knock knock
before you enter cause the chances are I'll be with whoever had a car to drive me home
and alcohol to last until the morning
for every argument I did not start for every chance you get to break my heart
I face another skirt chase I think I'm taking someone home
for every smile I see you shoot his way for every indiscretion I will make you pay
it's just another skirt chase I don't wanna be alone
and I think I've got the right idea and I think I'm taking someone home
so knock knock knock before you enter baby I've told you once before
knock knock knock before you enter baby I'm not asleep behind that door
before you enter cause the chances are I'm with another
on the floor all tangled up trying to forget when we were sober
so knock knock knock
before you enter cause the chances are I'll be with whoever had a car to drive me home
and alcohol to last until the morning
for every argument I did not start for every chance you get to break my heart
I face another skirt chase I think I'm taking someone home
for every smile I see you shoot his way for every indiscretion I will make you pay
it's just another skirt chase I don't wanna be alone
and I think I've got the right idea and I think I'm taking someone home
so knock knock knock before you enter baby I've told you once before
knock knock knock before you enter baby I'm not asleep behind that door

This song is obviously about getting drunk and banging chicks.
This song is about getting drunk and banging chicks because there's one girl he's trying to punish, make jealous, or something. And by the sounds of it, it's not really working. But it's an awesome song, makes me wanna dance!
I think he's trying to punish a particular girl, hence "make you pay". It's a little more than trying to make a girl jealous, something more sinister.
Is it just me, or does this song (music and rhythm, not lyrics) sound similar to Still Three Shy?
maybe the sinister thing he is going to do to the particular girl, is go out and bang all the shicks, get some disease, and GIVE IT TO HER. genius. lol
It seems like a revenge thing.like the girl hes with is eyeing other guys thinking hes not looking "for every smile i see you shoot his way.for evry indescretion i will make you pay" so he decides to get back at her
