Cold Grey Light of Dawn Lyrics
That endless light
Casts only one shadow
The cold grey light
By the penthouse on the ghetto
Kill the other witness
Knife plunged to the hilt
The unforgiven dawn
Will only spotlight your guilt
In the cold grey light of dawn
You can’t lie to yourself anymore
In the cold grey light of dawn
You can’t hide the truth
Hide the truth anymore
You call up Emmy
You’ve rehearsed the lines
But she knows about Judy
She knows you’re lying
Put your foot in it, yeah
It’s getting caught
Leave it in long enough, yeah
It starts to rot
In the cold grey light of dawn
You can’t lie to yourself anymore
In the cold grey light of dawn
You can’t hide the truth
Hide the truth anymore
No matter what you did
No matter who you are
In the fading light
From a middle aged star
You’ve seen every blemish
Every sign of age
And it’s useless to whine
And it’s useless to rage
In the cold grey light of dawn
You can’t lie to yourself anymore
In the cold grey light of dawn
You can’t hide the truth
Hide the truth anymore
Cold grey light of dawn
You can’t lie to yourself anymore
In the cold grey light of dawn
You can’t hide the truth
Hide the truth anymore
Hide the truth
Anymore
Hide the truth anymore
Casts only one shadow
The cold grey light
By the penthouse on the ghetto
Kill the other witness
Knife plunged to the hilt
The unforgiven dawn
Will only spotlight your guilt
You can’t lie to yourself anymore
In the cold grey light of dawn
You can’t hide the truth
Hide the truth anymore

I have never heard this song before, and I'm a big time BOC fanatic. What is it off of?

It's off of the Heaven Forbid album.
I suspect this is about Judy Garland and her husband Mickey Deans who several say murdered her. She was on television in her final years hence the Emmy mention. The end of the song talks about him coming to the end, and Mickey died in 2003 the same year that Curse of The Hidden Mirror came out.
@sleevemeister I don't know if it's about Judy Garland but you're wrong about the year the album came out, it was released in 2001 and most of the song doesn't apply to her death unless we take it as veeeery loosely inspired. She died of an overdose, not stabbing, there was no other witnesses killed and I can't think of any "Emmy" related to the story.
