| Judas Priest – Evil Never Dies Lyrics | 1 year ago |
|
This was released in 2018 and was written around 2016, so you can imagine the devil he's referring to who was elected around that time. That person also won Georgia, and the lyric "The Devil's moved from Georgia" makes sense, and is also a reference to the song "The Devil Came Down To Georgia." He still plays upon fears, lies to us all, and wants to take away your rights of what you do behind closed doors. Rob Halford being Gay knows about this effort of the Republican party. He wants to make the world his oyster by passing more tax cuts for himself, and the rich. Ultimately, he will lead us all to hell. Good job America. You blew it. |

| It's interesting that he refers to a diamond in a ring. When coupled with Walking in Circles, it sounds like it takes a lot from mecca, the black stone, and how muslims literally walk in circles around a ring. This also is like the ending of Stephen King's "Cell" where people walk zombie-like around an obelisk. | |

@[dirtylemons:31364] You proclaim tolerance while you defend Neil's lyrics that accuse God himself of sending people to hell? "Until our final breath While our loving Watchmaker Loves us all to death" I guess Neil gets a pass on insulting God himself? "Jesus said, “Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’” You might want to read up on what Jesus said about bearing false witness. The penalty for false witness against God is very plain in the bible. Matt 7: 13 Jesus said, “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Matt 12:36 But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned. Luke 13:22-30 Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he made his way to Jerusalem. Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?” He said to them, “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Sir, open the door for us.’ “But he will answer, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’ “Then you will say, ‘We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.’ “But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!’ “There will be weeping there, and gnashing of teeth John 12:48-50 If anyone hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge that person. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day. |

| Toad the Wet Sprocket – Golden Age Lyrics | 6 years ago |
|
Glen Phillips said ""Golden Age" is about this tendency to look back and idealize this task that never actually happened, or idealize a future that will never happen and lose the present. To some degree the song is definitely about depression and just trying to face that. I'm trying to talk more publicly about it because enough people have gone through it or have lived with somebody who's gone through it. There are different types of depression. When my dad died, I got depressed. That's normal depression. And then there's end-of-the-world, not able to face anything. That came really close to destroying my marriage. Did a really good job of wrecking my solo career. And I wore a lot of people out. I wore a lot of audiences out when I was on the road. I didn't want to be alive, and there's nothing worse than paying a ticket to see somebody who doesn't want to be there. The odd thing is, in contrast of when that overtakes me, I am apparently a pretty optimistic, happy person. But it's a weird disease and it has to be dealt with." In context, Glen and his wife divorced in 2014 right after this album came out, so it sounds like he was referring to his own life through the first verse looking back. Saint Virginia, or Virginia Centurione Bracelli, was forced into a marriage that lasted only 5 years, when she was widowed. She devoted her life to feeding hungry people, among other things. I believe "When the devil tests your will, you kill who you have to kill" refers to what he has said regarding his difficult personality at times. He does his best to fight that part of himself. "God loves a madman, but I wore his patience through" I believe means he took too long to take corrective action, because he wasn't as strong as a perhaps Saint Virginia was. He's basically saying he's not a saint. The "All we are" verse is simply about human nature, and how he was overwhelmed by his band's success, and ultimate collapse that occured after "Coil" didn't perform to expectations. The last stanza refers to either looking back at his "Golden age" and trying to determine if it was actually golden at all, or perhaps the striving to return to a place of success that he previously had. |

| Men at Work – Down By The Sea Lyrics | 8 years ago |
|
I am proposing that this location "Down By The Sea" is in Portsmouth, UK (England). Colin Hay is from North Ayrshire Scotland which is 8 hours north by car of Portsmouth, or less than 2 hours by air. Colin lived in Scotland until he was 14, so I'm not sure if this song is based on a romance from his youth, or later in life. They overdosed on pleasure on the beach near Portsmouth Historic Dockyard which is open to the public. Yonnies in the wind, are stones that they threw into the water. Ruggin' up for winter could be the clothes they wore, or it could be the Dockyard setting up for winter operations. Bins are trash containers that perhaps workers were putting out. Down by the docks live all the silent sea ships which are historic ships that are permanently placed there. You can look these up on the wiki page for Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Sailing down the river to the shore is definitely possible if you lookup the region on google maps. Diving to the center, eating out the core could be oral sex on the beach, at Southsea Beach specifically, or perhaps the path of their boat moving inland toward Hayling Island. Saluting Captain Benbow is also possible since the John Benbow Figurehead statue is located at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Climbing up the cliffs is also possible at nearby Solent Cliff. The boat that ran adrift that's sitting on the sandbar, is likely at Hayling Island 15 minutes away. An old boiler, "Hayling Island Boiler" is there from a past shipwreck. Laughing at the waves, until a storm brings ice. This could be the trouble in their relationship. Moving North and South could be the traveling to see each other between Scotland and England? This is just a guess. He screams at the sky and asks why they can't stay together? He seems very upset at this point. |

| Buck Dharma – Come Softly to Me Lyrics | 8 years ago |
|
"Come Softly to Me" is a popular song written by Gretchen Christopher, Barbara Ellis and Gary Troxel that was performed by The Fleetwoods, composed of Christopher, Troxel, and Ellis. It was recorded in late 1958, and released and published in 1959; it was the first release for the new Dolphin Records label. The original title was "Come Softly," but was changed en route to its becoming a hit. Bob Reisdorf, the owner of Dolphin Records, which in 1960 changed to Dolton Records, was responsible for the title change. He thought that "Come Softly" might be too obvious and considered risqué, so he had it changed to "Come Softly to Me." The title phrase never appears in the song's lyrics. Recording the song at home, the group sang it a cappella with the rhythmic shaking of Troxel's car keys. The tape was then sent to Los Angeles where the sparse instrumental accompaniment was added, including an acoustic guitar played by Bonnie Guitar. Released in 1959, the single reached #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in April.[1] |

| Big Country – Look Away Lyrics | 9 years ago |
| This song is based on the outlaw Harry Tracy. The first part of the song is about being on the run from the law. Harry Tracy killed 11 or more men and eventually committed suicide to avoid being done in by the authorities. "I never meant to kill a man" alludes to how Harry was playing cards with a man when a fight over cheating broke out, and the other man's gun discharged, and hit him, killing him. Harry protested his innocence in the silent film I watched on the topic called "Tracy The Outlaw". "Look away, look away From the lies in the stories that were told" alludes to the stories that were written in the press at the time that were untrue such as him raping, and killing his school house teacher as a child. "Look away, look away From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul" alludes to his wife who was the sister of fellow outlaw David Merrill. He escaped from prison to track her down. He knew he was an outlaw, and was never going to be allowed to live happy with his love. All of this of course was very relatable to Stuart Adamson. He didn't like touring life, or the business side of music. He also had to deal with press that was not often favorable to him. He wanted to be with his family, but knew that he could not. His first marriage ended in divorce, and surely he felt his music career was a big part of his family not being successful in this regard. He went missing on the day that his second wife filed for divorce. He ultimately chose to end his life the same way that Harry Tracy did - suicide. | |
| Heart – Even It Up Lyrics | 9 years ago |
| She gave some guy oral sex "took him down", and he came "it went to his head". Then she showed him her private parts, and said to reciprocate with oral. She "brought him his breakfast in bed". If you listen to the background singers, in spots it even sounds like "eatin' it up" and "eatin' it out". | |
| Blue Öyster Cult – Mistress of the Salmon Salt (Quicklime Girl) Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
I've always wondered what this song is about. There's several things I've come up with. My first inclination since Albert Bouchard was the writer, and he tends to lean toward sexual references, is that Quicklime may be a substitute for quick time girl. It says she "plies her trade" so she's getting paid for something. I was thinking that sailors "where coast guard crews still take their leave" hit her up for sex behind the bushes. "Where the plants grow strong and tall Behind the bush there lurks a girl Who makes them strong and tall" could be a reference to their erections. Mistress of the "salmon salt" and "reduction of many from the one" have always seemed like code for semen to me. Perhaps they spill their semen and feed the plants that way? She perhaps is killing her victims too, since there are ripe and ready graves. With laughter and a little step, perhaps you fall into a hole in the ground? There's one other literal possibility. Quicklime is an actual substance http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calcium_oxide "Because of vigorous reaction of quicklime with water, quicklime causes severe irritation when inhaled or placed in contact with moist skin or eyes. Inhalation may cause coughing, sneezing, labored breathing. It may then evolve into burns with perforation of the nasal septum, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. Although quicklime is not considered a fire hazard, its reaction with water can release enough heat to ignite combustible materials." She could be burning her victims to death with quicklime, or it could even be a drug dealer reference. Since the lyrics mention gasping, and choked to death perhaps they're smoking something intended to be a drug, and it's actually poison, or perhaps they're just junkies dying from her drugs. Also, Quicklime is used to make cement, so she could be burying victims in cement too. Another thing about the plants growing tall, is that she could be feeding actual plants with the corpses of her victims. I believe she's a prostitute, and she lures sailors in with sex behind the bushes, and she kills them, and feeds the plants. I don't really think the drug reference makes sense if they are sailors. Sailors don't generally go off on drug binges. I wish someone would give a definitive explanation to this song, as it's always made me wonder. |

| Billy Squier – Til It's Over Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I love this song, and think it's one of Billy's best songs. On the surface it sounds like someone is ready to quit life, but I think Billy at this stage could see he'd peaked in his music career. Don't Say No and Emotions in Motion peaked at #5 on the US charts in 1981 and 1982. This album peaked at #11 and the following album peaked at #61. I think cast in the call of a million smiles is faces he'd seen in concert. He was blown away by them. Can't forget you but I can't hold on must have been touring burnout, or perhaps tiredness of the pressure to produce hits. I still love you when it's over sounds like a message to the fans to me, he still wants them to come back later if he continues. | |
| Our Lady Peace – Made Of Steel Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I think the suicide angle is likely but I had another thought after reading the lyrics. It could be an AA connection that wrote a note saying they were going to go drink. Aren't other AA members supposed to intervene, and they would surely say "I'm not made of steel". Just a thought. | |

| Blue Öyster Cult – Seven Screaming Diz-Busters Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
also found this interview with Eric Bloom soooo...... I've got more questions from the fan club. In the 1973 song "Seven Screaming Dizbusters," what is a dizbuster? Bloom: (laughs) Well, it has a sexual connotation. That's OK, I'm a grownup. You can tell me. Bloom: I think Richard Meltzer and Sandy Pearlman came up with a term, that was sort of like an inside joke to them, and used it in the lyric of that song. To them, the diz was the groove at the top of the penis. Yeah? Bloom: And that's what a diz was. So "Seven Screaming Dizbusters" are some pretty bad boys. So they were fucking so hard, the tip of their penis fell apart. Bloom: I can't read more into it, and you're probably reading more into it than I can. But that's really what the diz is, in our nomenclature. |
|
| Blue Öyster Cult – Seven Screaming Diz-Busters Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
From blue Oyster FAQ Former BOC drummer Albert Bouchard has stated that the "diz" refers to the cleft of the penis. Bolle Gregmar further tells us that "duster's dust" (from the song, "Seven Screaming Diz-Busters") refers to sperm. Therefore, a "Diz-Buster" refers to someone (or something) which causes one to ejaculate. Well, you wanted to know . . . http://www.tmk.com/ftp/boc-l/boc_faq-2_0.txt The whole thing sounds like a group of Succubus women / groupies. The women are on the hunt for sperm, and he's even saying bury me in a certain locations so thay don't have sex with him. The fact that he mentions it as a sale makes me think he's afraid of getting groupies pregnant because then he'll owe them financial support of some kind. Mixing supernatural with real assigns them a special kind of evil. |

| Rush – BU2B Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| It means Neil is going to hell. He's getting bolder and more anti-God the older he gets. Wonder why that is? Maybe because he's getting older, and scared about the God he's going to have to face at the end of his life? "The loving watchmaker" can only save people if they ask him. People themselves created seperation from God when they sinned in the garden, so why does Neil repeated blame God for a predicament that we created? He gave up his son, so that we can escape a fate WE created. God wants no one to go to hell, but if we don't accept him, we will. Neil needs to check his watch, because his time is running out. He will be judged for bringing people down with him with lyrics like this. I like Rush a lot, but this song is insulting to me as a christian, and I love the lord for saving me. Take his hand, and join us in heaven. | |
| Veruca Salt – Seether Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| No, no, no you're all wrong. Seether is her clitoris while she's masturbating. Neither loose nor tight means specifically not her vagina. Neither black nor white, because it's pink. I try to calm her down (because she doesn't want to climax), I try to ram her into the ground (with hard rubbing). I can't see her 'til I'm foaming at the mouth (it's not fully visible until she's about to climax). Neither big nor small, the center of it all (the middle of her vulva), rock her in her cradle (move her back and forth in the labia), try to knock her out (hard rubbing again), try to cram her back in my mouth (either force it into the opening, or perhaps she's trying to orally pleasure herself). Not like other girls (may not look like every other one she's seen, but she knows how to have a good time with her). You can tell she's singing dirty. | |

| No, no, no. You're all wrong. She's a hippie drug addict, so she's thinking of pot leaves, and the sky's gray because she'd rather be stoned, but can't because she's in church. She'd be stoned (safe and warm) if she was in california (more than likely at Berkley). The preacher likes cold (being sober). If she snuck out of church without telling her mom she wanted to go get stoned, she could do it. That's why it's a hippie song, because all hippie songs are in one way or another about getting stoned. | |

| While watching the 1979 version of the film Nosferatu The Vampyre, there is a scene involving several people that had contracted the plaque. It's called "The Dance Macabre" If you look it up on youtube here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qcm1DYtGPNE, and start playing it at the same time as the beginning of BOC's song, when the heroin walks in and looks at the coffins the song says "everything we see just fades away" then the chorus sings the first "Dancin In The Ruins" and they are dancing in the scene. B.O.C. also has a song titled Nosferatu as well. Spooky connection. | |
