I'm Alive Lyrics
I'm alive when I’m missing you
I'm heading out for the lone star state and flying over Santa Fe
I'm looking out at a mountain range
I brace myself for the life I made
We're too young at heart
Hoping for one more day
This airport terminal can't see
Everything you mean to me
I'm alive when I'm missing you
I'm alive but too far
I'm alive when I'm missing you
I'm alive but too far from your room
I remember not sleeping
Hold on tight
Come with me
I left my heart on your bed sheets not knowing
What it means to be here, on a plane leaving you
This airport terminal can't see
Everywhere I wish you'd be
I'm alive when I'm missing you
I'm alive but too far
I'm alive when I'm missing you
I'm alive but too far from your room
Girl you can't make me stay
I'm saying what I have to say
Know you were just a phase
A piece of who I am today
Just another checkmark on my list of things that I regret
You're another checkmark on my list of things that I regret
I'm alive when I'm missing you
I'm alive but not missing you
I'm alive and I sleep fine
I'm alive but not missing you
I'm alive and I sleep fine in my own room
I'm looking out at a mountain range
I brace myself for the life I made
Hoping for one more day
Everything you mean to me
I'm alive but too far
I'm alive when I'm missing you
I'm alive but too far from your room
Hold on tight
Come with me
I left my heart on your bed sheets not knowing

Everywhere I wish you'd be

I think it has something to do with always being on the road as a musician on tour and how hard it is to leave the one you love.
This is one of my favorite songs from the new album. (I have all the songs btw.)
i didn't catch the change in the chorus until my third or so listen ot this song.
i think it's just about young "love." how at first he's off travelling (possibly since he's a musician, or whatever future it is that required him to travel away). so at first he thinks he's in love and will keep holding onto the girl, but then time and distance makes him realize that it wasn't that serious, and is overrr it.
I agree with the Avalanche1 and m0nique. It's about being away from someone you love for a long time and missing them, but slowly getting over them and realizing that you don't need them to feel alive.
I think it's about sleeping with someone and thinking that you'll be together forever and then as you grow up, realizing that sleeping with them was a mistake and that you have go separate ways sometimes. He loved her, but now he's moved on.
ok you two uptop need to realize that only seldom do musicians actually write their own lyrics. its about a high schooler that lusts for this twenty something year old... he sneaks away and visits her sometimes but he has a demanding life and so does she\ call me crazy idc

actually, if you read, i said that it's POSSIBLY because he's a musician OR just some other thing that requires him to move away. and the first part of the song talks about traveling to Texas, on a route that makes him fly over Sante Fe... it sounds more like a permanent move rather than sneak aways. but interpretations are personal so i won't say that you're wrong. just sharing my own, differing opinion

Anyways, taking a second look at this, it just seems to be about a relationship after one or both have moved onto college, and so they're far apart now. i've seen a handful of people end their high school/summer relationships once they got to college, despite wanting to stay together and what not before entering some ended even by the second week. but yeah, it just seems like the person has moved on and realized that they'd do fine without the other person.
