I won't cover you eyes
I want your innocence
Glisten before me in a cold sweat
I wan't you to see your lie spill on me
Spill on me
Manifested as a primitive craving
The craving never seems to go away
I want to see the face of everyone fall
Fall into the cold embrace of death
You're in my nightmare
I decide when it stops
It's my fucking drug
Makes my rush intensify
Hardcore the overdose
Your fear gets me high
Unbound I'm the weapon made to sterilize
Sterilize all the idiot victims
Anytime, anywhere, anyone I want
Everyone's addicted to this torture
I'm the agony in every breath
Every breath brings you closer to me
You'll do anything, anything
You'll do anything to make it stop
You're in my nightmare
I decide when it stops
It's my fucking drug
Makes my rush intensify
Chaos deep inside it makes me
It makes me feel surreal
It makes me need to kill
It makes me feel surreal
It makes me need to kill
Do you want to feel eternity
Your eternity lies within me
I am the terror of your final breath
Your final breath brings light to my darkness
Like an act of fucking God unleashed
On the innocence - innocence of mankind
You'll do anything - anything
You'll do anything to make it stop
It's my fucking drug
Makes my rush intensify
Hardcore the overdose
Your fear gets me of like fuck

Does no-one get the meaning of this song? The drug is religion, the addicts are the religious people. Big emphasis on the fact that religion is fuelled by fear- fear of death, fear of uncertainty.

"Unbound, I'm the weapon made to sterilize Sterilize all the idiot victims" Religion designed to keep people unthinking, pacify the masses.

"Anytime, anywhere, anyone I want Everyone's addicted to this torture I'm the agony in every breath Every breath brings you closer to me You'll do anything, anything You'll do anything to make it stop" Religious followers would do anything, follow any religion to stop their fear of death, thinking that every breath brings them closer to death.

"Do you want to feel eternity? Your eternity lies within me" If you want to live forever, you must become addicted.

"I'm the terror of your final breath Your final breath brings light to my darkness" In their final breath, the addicted question whether they followed the right faith and they're still scared of what will come. But because they've given their lives to this faith, it's the "light to the drugs (religions) darkness" because others will follow, will see this dedication and believe it is a good faith. The more people die for this drug, the more will take it.

Very clever song. Very good comparison, saying religion is a drug. Not a mind expanding, enlightening drug but a close-minded, escapist drug. "addicts" are escaping the reality of uncertainty and the questions of philosophy, choosing a drug that lets them escape from all that, gives them the easy answers. But even in the end they're not satisfied, they're still uncertain, and in their death they give their power to the drug, intensifying it's effect with their fear.

Funny how people project meanings onto things lol... sometimes it's a real stretch.

To me personally the song is very literal. It's that darkness within each of us, that cold empty core which wants to destroy, to consume life, to suck the marrow from the bone of existence. That darkness isn't all that's within us, there's the opposite side of the 'coin' too.

I know this feeling, because often when I've seen the fakeness of much of the world, of so many people, part of me desires to break them, to tear down their walls and reign with absolute power over them and their pathetic state.

It's almost like a wild dog... if such an animal respects you, it won't attack you. But if it sees your insanity, your fear and weakness, it may well do so. The natural urge to destroy and challenge that which is pathetic and weak - spiritually pathetic and weak that is, rather than what some group subjectively opinions as 'weak'.

Disgust is perhaps the appropriate word.

This is an awesome song...it's a shame it's so rare...most newly-made slayer fans don't get the opportunity to hear it.

This song and scarstruck are both awesome, I don't know why they didn't get on the album.

Holiday

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
