Touch me.
You'd never touch me.
You'd never.
Your silver smile has once again controlled me.

No need to put this on me.
You are the one and only thing I need.
Trust in me, i'll show you things you've never seen.

This town never felt the same.
Since the sun went down I don't feel so safe.
Your face is such a mess.
And the wine on your breath shows gracelessness.
So deceiving.

Let it go your hands are right in front of me.
Cracking up and, the sound of the new year saviour.
Pen on paper.
(This is what I get)

No need to do this baby.
The sex it drives me crazy.
You begin to break me in.
Tell me what you need.

So you throw it away.
All this fucking dismay
And now you're back in your skin.

There will be terror at the sight of this...
She only knows how to stay awake in here.

To me, this song is about how he is on and off with this girl that he loves. She's pulled him in again, and he couldn't resist it, because she is all he needs. But she lets herself go, she drinks, doesn't show respect to herself, but she just needs to let it all go. And writing is helping her let it all go, and becomes the new saviour, saving herself from herself. He wants to do all he can and help her, but she just goes back to who she was, "back in her skin."

He's in love with a girl... She thinks shes not good enough for him? I'm not good with analysing lyrics. Good song though. I love the way Matthew sings it. I just wish there was a third verse.

This song Hmm... it's awesome and i agree with everybody else the way matheww sings it is fucking fantastic.

i think it's about him been in-love with a girl, who in a way is quite manipulative "your smile has once again controlled me"

i think she leads him on and he knows it but he can't help but love her "no need to do this baby the sex it drives me crazy you begin to break me in ...tell me what you need!!!!"

    he's a fool and he's in-love...

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
