Warn your warmth to turn away
Here it's December every day
Press your lips to the sculptures and surely you'll stay
For of sugar and ice, I am made

It's in the blood
It's in the blood
I met my love before I was born
He wanted love, I taste of blood
He bit my lip and drank my war from years before

She exhales vanilla lace
I barely dreamt her yesterday
Read the lines in the mirror through the lipstick trace
"Por siempre," she said,
"It seems you're somewhere far away"
To his face

It's in the blood
It's in the blood
I met my love before I was born
She wanted love, I taste of blood
He bit my lip and drank my war from years before

Love like winter
Love like winter

It's in the blood
It's in the blood
I met my love before I was born
He wanted love, I taste of blood
He bit my lip and drank my war from years before

I do not believe that this song is about being gay, or bisexual as Davey during an interview said that he uses “he” in one verse and “she” in another to distinguish between two different relationships and avoiding the potential confusion that may be caused by saying she twice.

Let’s call “he” lover #1 and “she” lover #2.

He says that soul mates are is designated to you before birth, like destiny and you can't change the way you feel about this person, in his case lover #1, as it is a love that lasts forever and does not leave your system (It's in the blood, it's in the blood. I met my love before I was born). Because of this he warns to potential lovers not to get attached to him, as his love is cold and hallow; he will never be able to fully love again because of the heartbreak of his parting with lover #1 (Warn your warmth to turn away. Here it's December every day). If you do wind up in a relationship with him, as he is desirable, yet cold in lover #1’s absence (Attractive to others, but cold in lover # 1’s absence), therefore it will only end in tragedy as he is frozen, like a sculpture, in a state of frigidity and incapability to love since his heartbreak (Press your lips to the sculptures and surely you'll stay (Love like winter)).He begins a new relationship with lover #2 but feels no devotion to her, he does not truly love her; she is not reserved in a precious spot in his heart. Thus she is not held in a place of warmth, and is figuratively in the cold, where one can see a person’s breath when they exhale (She exhales vanilla lace). He feels no attachment to this lover, unlike lover #1 who he feels like he met before he was born; to whom she is his soul mate, his only love (I barely dreamt her yesterday, yesterday). It’s clear that lover # 2 is smart enough to realize she can never live up to his expectations, because she will never be lover #1 of whom he is “forever” devoted to (She said, "it seems you're somewhere far away" to his face) as entailed by "the writing on the wall" (Read the lines in the mirror through the lipstick trace "Por Siempre").

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
