A peacebone got found in the dinosaur wing
I've been jumping all over but my views are slowly shrinking
I was a Jugular vein in a juggler's girl
I was supposedly leaking the most interesting colors
While half of my fingers are dipped in the sand
You progress in letters, but you're used to cooking broccoli
The other side of take out is mildew on rice
And an obsession with the past is like a dead fly
Only a few things are related to the "old times"
Then we did believe in magic and we did die
It's not my words that you should follow, it's your insides
You're just an inside
Adjust your insides
You're just an inside

I'll bet the monster was happy when they made him a maze
'Cause he don't understand intentions, he just looks at a face
I'll bet the bubbles exploded to tickle the bath
All the birds are very curious, all the fish are at the surface
With half of me waiting for myself to get calm
I'm like a pelican at red tide, I'm a corpse, I'm not a fisherman
And a blowout does not mean I will have a good night
'Cause an obsession with the past is like a dead fly
And just a few things are related to the "old times"
When we did believe in magic and we did die
It's not my words that you should follow, it's your insides
You're just an inside
Adjust your insides
You're just an inside

I start in a hose and I'll end in a yard
When I feel like I'm stealing I can't keep myself from hearing God
Only the taste of your cooking can make me bow on the ground
It was the clouds that carved the mountains, it was the mountains that made the kids scream
Oh well she bore all her parts but she never was found
You think "I'll carve a path through New York and be an artist", but are you anything?
Then you find out you can't ask a baby to cry
And an obsession with the past is like a dead fly
And just a few things are related to the "old times"
When we did believe in magic and we did die
It's not my words that you should follow, it's your insides
You're just an inside
Adjust your insides
You're just an inside

    Or maybe....

It's not my words that you should follow, it's your insight.

For the sake of argument, I'll say this is a story of the ancient Greek inventor Daedalus. He built the labyrinth at Knossos for the Minotaur (made the monster a maze). Also, to escape from a tower, he created wings for himself and his son Icarus (kid flying). The bubbles that bring the fish to the surface could be either the body of Icarus, or the body of the king of Athens (Ageus I believe, don't quote me) when he jumped off a cliff upon Theseus's return from slaying the Minotaur. He is the epitome of the ancient Greek artist and inventor. He killed his nephew when he surpassed him in inventing (can't make a baby cry?) Tenuous food for thought

    My Interpretation

Examining and looking we find answers but there is always more. Progression is always relative to before. Everything around me is in process of change. I was young yesterday and tomorrow I grow old. I see matter moving through space but what makes it go? Am I my skin or my bones? When I deny my insides what does it mean to feel? Will I have courage to find understanding, to face my fears? Tomorrow’s losses show light on today’s gains. And all this time that peace bone was in the dinosaur’s wing

these are the relevant lines...he relates himself to a peacebone, how he has traveled everywhere, but like water in a hose he ends in a yard, to be found, when things were the way they were...all the superfluity in the world shouldnt keep one from pursuing his/her dream hence the very important line: "Oh well she bore all her parts but she never was found You think "I'll carve a path through New York and be an artist", but are you anything?"

trying to make sense of thesse lyrics is like trying to ask a baby to cry...good song!

first off, i believe the song is a message about our society's dependence on fossil fuels. think about it... the song isnt so full of nonsence after i got this idea in my head. i also think the correct lyric is "gadfly" not kid fight or whatever.

the part where he is chanting/ yelling he says 'YOUR JUST A' over and over. Then says boneface. which he says throughout the song. In the video he looks into a hole/grave and says boneface... which is also a common theme throughout the song..

your just an inside.. adjust your insides. He is saying stop pretending to be someone your not.. adjust your insides is plural.

There are only a few parts i get about this song and many i have no idea. I think it will be rather obscure to think any 3 people will come up with the same conclusion what this song means to them. Maybe that is what makes it so unique.

    My Interpretation

I think this song is - looking at the chorus - about letting go of the past and to follow your heart. "an obsession with the past is like a dead fly" and "And just a few things are related to the 'old times'" And not letting anyone tell you how to live. "It's not my words that you should follow, it's your inside"

While i think we can all agree that collectively these lyrics make no sense. But some of the lyrics make sense when standing alone, e.g:

"the monster was happy when we made him a maze. cause he don't understand intentions he just looks at your face" One my favorite lines in the song, i believe it's saying how a lot of people these days are just looking for something bad to do.

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
