Even the Sand Is Made of Seashells Lyrics
I hear the Ocean breathing in a sigh
A seagull screaming over head just out of sight
I see the Sun melt slowly in your eyes
Fall into the dirty water time after time
Every single shell was once alive,
just like the two of us.
We wade down to the waters edge,
and now there's nothing but grains of sand.
A signal flashes faintly from the shore.
Echos in the distance with the sound of your voice.
Nothing's ever seemed so far away
Wave after wave it's calling me.
Wave after wave after wave.
Every single shell was once alive,
just like the two of us.
We step into the shallow end,
to see what love is like.
At the water's edge our lives wash up,
the tide keeps rolling out.
But now we're nothing,
now we're nothing but grains of sand
la la la la
la la la la
Wave after after wave,
I can feel that the end is coming.
Breaking the step
til we sit at our last we're always
nothing but grains of sand
A seagull screaming over head just out of sight
I see the Sun melt slowly in your eyes
Fall into the dirty water time after time
just like the two of us.
We wade down to the waters edge,
and now there's nothing but grains of sand.
Echos in the distance with the sound of your voice.
Nothing's ever seemed so far away
Wave after wave it's calling me.
Wave after wave after wave.

We step into the shallow end,

At the water's edge our lives wash up,

But now we're nothing,

la la la la

Breaking the step
til we sit at our last we're always
nothing but grains of sand

Its a bonus track on the UK version of A City...
This song is so beautiful. I wish they had put it on AC/LD, it doesn't really fit in with the rest of the album though.
any1 know what's the meaning of this song, cant quite figure it out
I'm pretty sure this is about Geoff's wife. In the WATT booklet, Geoff thanks "my beautiful sea-shel".
Perhaps it's about growing distant from someone you love. This stanza says it all to me... " Every single shell was once alive, just like the two of us. We step into the shallow end, to see what love is like. At the water's edge our lives wash up, the tide keeps rolling out. But now we're nothing,"
according to interview his marriage was dissolving at the time so this is highly likely.

It's true that this song would not have found a very happy home on ACBTLD. It is a beautiful song though. And yes I think this is about two loverrs growing distant, they were together like the shell but were ground apart by time into seperate grains of sand. If there are any corrections please feel free to post them, I had some difficulty at the beginning and the end. Also there appears to be a faint radio voice playing at the end.
does anyone know how the fuck i could get a hold of this song?????
i have limewire which is where i download most of my songs from and i found it there.
I have one correction, and I'm not 100% sure on this but this is what I hear in the first stanza of this song, plus it makes 10x's more sense than what you have written down:
"A sea-blue screaming over head just out of sight" --- I think it's:
"A seagul screaming overhead just out of sight".
I looooooooove this song. Love the guitars 2:44 in. And the vocals.. smooth and, the lyrics just flow with this song, I love singing along, especially at the second "At the water's edge our lives wash up the tides keep rolling out.. But now we're nothing. Now we're nothing but grains of sand!" You can hear it in his voice. A perfect treat to my ears, should have been given more recognition. By the way, hi Eddy. This is theyallsurroundedme.. Sarah.
This song rivals Autumn Leaves Revisited as the most beautiful and sorrowful Thursday song, in my opinion.
And yes, I agree, this song is about lovers growing distant; while once their relationship was alive and full of love, it's slowly dying and fading away with time.
