Here at the station, standing in the rain, lost in my train of thought
Looking around for a better time again, but yesterday ain't running on this track

Unpredictable fortune, my past, lights up my future, at last, ending my torture

Like gravity like love,
You get up after you fall
Like gravity like love
I'm not afraid anymore
Like gravity like love,
You get up after you fall, I ain't afraid no more

Out of no reason I've decided to stay, present a solution, to the problem,
Typical of me, that I concentrate on the destination so much that I miss the journey there and back

Unpredictable fortune, my past, lights up my future, at last, ending my torture

Like gravity like love,
You get up after you fall
Like gravity like love
I'm not afraid anymore
Like gravity like love,
You get up after you fall, I ain't afraid no more

If gravity was love, if gravity was love, if gravity was love...

No comments on this song? ...shame ):

I really like Gravity, another beauty by Poets of the Fall. The meaning is sort of obvious, well, as obvious as it’s going to get in terms of the meanings of Poets’ songs (: The comparison between gravity and love is clever, and that’s what I like about the band. They take a topic like ‘love’ (I am generalising) which is smeared all over the charts, and turn it into something intellectual and amazing.

Anyway, I think the song is basically talking about someone’s love life and the decision that they finally make to take the leap and move on. “But yesterday ain’t running on this track”; they missed their chance yesterday. The person has to make themself move on from what has happened (the ‘fall’ which could be a breakup, maybe a death etc.) by getting up and not being afraid.

Catchy tune, great lyrics, awesome voice, all in all, a fantastic song (:

I just heard Gravity and i really liked it. I think it talks about the fact that after a painful brake up or a lose you feel terrible and believe thet your world has been broken up to peaces but after a while you will get up on your feet again. The comparison with the gravity shows that this is the normal reaction and the way things will turn out eventually despite how one can feel at the moment. Very nice song! :)

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
