slay the night
and I promise, I won't die,
without you there, I can't,
I can't close my eyes

But I can't leave myself tonight,
there I was, a bit lost inside

Now waiting for eveything,
to fall into place,
and waiting for everything,
to fall

most nights
I, cry, myself awake,
as she waits my love,
my love falls away
Now I sit alone,
and began today
an wonder why, everything went this way

Now waiting for eveything,
to fall into place,
and waiting for everything,
to fall into place,
waiting for everything,
to fall

and I,
cry myself awake,
and I cry myself awake...

i swear 'stay the night, and i promise, i won't die' is a direct reference to Team America. ...i mean, Dallas IS pretty ugly, he might need to pull the odd lie out for the sake of girls (and/or puppets)

    My Interpretation

    The lyrics should read:

Stay the night and I promise I won't die Without you there, I can't I can't close my eyes But I can't leave myself tonight There I was, still lost inside

Now waiting for everything to fall into place Waiting for everything to fall

Most nights I cry myself awake As she waits, my love My love falls away Well I sit alone again today Wondering why everything went this way

Now waiting for everything to fall into place Waiting for everything to fall into place Waiting for everything to fall

And I cry myself awake And I cry myself awake

Perhaps an early version of Constant Knot? "Stay the night and I promise I won't bite Without you there, I can't I can't close my eyes"

Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
