I the video doesnt make sense. But then again, I can't really figure out how to translate anything into english. But I really like this song.

i think the translation goes something like:

and 1, 2, 3, Alice was born in the land of nightmares i would like to reassure her and 1, 2, 3, Alice fell in a black hole i could be her savior

but what does one make of evil? i dont remember anything there is too much world around me Alice isnt coming back to me

and 1, 2, 3, Alice was born in a place a place that shouldn't have been (? my french is rusty) and 1, 2, 3, Alice in the land of stars it was once someone like me but if you see me, i think that you will grow and 1, 2, 3, jesus christ is really dead for nothing i hope that all goes well

but there is a place here no more for her to grow well (again ?) she had just one problem: it is to understand rainy days but i am there

sorry if its not right. my french is out of practice

Belgian dude's here to help you. Your translation is correct.

"and 1, 2, 3, Alice was born in a place a place that shouldn't have been (? my french is rusty)"

Second sentence mean she's not born in the "right" place. Don't know if you got it this way,but that's what it meant.

"but there is a place here no more for her to grow well (again ?)"

He's saying that there's not any place for here to grow up anymore.

eva, wakeup is close - some of the verb tenses are incorrect, but that doesn't affect the meaning much.

but what does one make of evil? i dont remember anything there is too much world around me Alice isnt coming back to me

The lyrics were wrong. The first line of this verse has been corrected, and it means: 'But what did we do tomorrow?' The rest: 'I don't remember anything There are way too many people around me Alice isn't returning to you'

As for the meaning, the lyrics are rather vague. There are two girls in the video, one being followed (but not really chased) by several guys, and one running alone. The first, I think, is Alice and the second is June. 'June', on the same album, is about an anorexic girl. Both girls are running from their pain - perhaps it's depression for Alice? Or sexual abuse? Either would work with 'Alice est née dans un endroit, Un endroit qu'il ne fallait pas'.

'Alice ne te retourne pas' The boys following her in the video, as I noted above, don't seem to be menacing - indeed, they seem to be suffering, too, and perhaps, like the singer, they want to save her.

I came across this song on MTV while staying in Toulouse. The video is from a concert performance, but an amazing song! I have plugged each verse into a translator and agree with erunyauve.

Seemed like maybe they were hinting at "Alice in Wonderland" a little bit.

A few more corrections to eva, wake up's translation (I'm a French girl) :

It's not "Alice isn't coming back to me", nor "Alice isn't returning to you", but rather "Alice, don't turn around". 'retourner' and 'SE retourner' don't have the same meaning.

"a place that shouldn't have been" is also a little approximative, it's more like "a place where she shouldn't have" (meaning 'where she shouldn't have been born') but my English is kind of reaching its boundaries here...

"it was once someone like me" would be, more accurately, "once upon a time there was someone like me", but your version is OK.

"but if you see me, i think that you will grow" : it's not "see", it's "drink" (reference to Alice in Wonderland indeed, except that she's lost in Nightmareland or something like that...)

"but there is a place here no more for her to grow well (again ?)" : 'place' in French and 'place' in English don't mean the same thing, be careful. I'd translate that "but there's no room here/ for her to grow further". (or "for her to grow any more", that's up to discussion.)

Apart from that I agree with erunyauve.
