I can't wait
To be with you
No I just can't sit still,
Are we there yet?
Takes me back,
I remember
Such a magical place
It was so, you

Closing in
I hope that you make it
Closing in
I hope that you find your way

Frame by frame,
With speed ahead
The city dissolving,
The thread of your love in the headlights
Is it safe now?
Will your arms be open?
I just have to kiss you,
Try and stop me

Closing in
I hope that you make it
Closing in
I hope that you find your way
Closing in
It's all that I want in the whole world
Closing in
Please be there, please be there

What are you like?
Where did you get to?
Know what I think?
You didn't hold me, for any longer
What do you want for the fear of love?
Or don't you believe enough?
Well I'll cover both of us
You can leave that to me!

Closing in
I hope that you'll make it
Closing in
I hope that you find your way
Closing in, closing in.

I interpreted this song as someone who "can't wait" to be with their soulmate... and hoping that there is such a thing.

The first line sounds hopeful and excited. The feeling she has "takes [her] back" to another time when she has felt similar.

The chorus seems like she feels she will meet him soon and doesnt want to be let down.. as in.. I hope that you make it to me.

In the second verse, she is imaging what it will be like to finally be with him. It reminds me of a movie scene where the camera spins around a kissing couple. To me, asking if it is safe is her way of making sure he is "the one."

The anticipation starts to make her worry that she won't meet the love of her life. "It's all that i want in the whole world, please be there"... she keeps hoping.

The last verse sounds like she is wondering all about him. She finally finds someone she thinks is the one but the other person isn't as in love as she is. She tells him she can believe enough for the both of them because she wants it so badly.

Finally, the different tense in.. "I hope that YOU'LL make it" shows that she has met someone and wants him to come around and realize that they were meant to be... but it is in desperation. The music tells us otherwise. I really like the contrasting ideas.

But that could be a huge stretch.

I think thats just about right, she's in love with the idea of being in love with this guy. When it comes to the realisation of meeting him again she loses her grip on this personification and is at a loss.

I don't know anything about this album really, but I feel like it is a concept album. I feel like it is the progression of her relationship with someone, from fascination and stalker like obsession in "goodnight and go" to her soon to be lover's stuborness to admit their love in "the walk". I think this song is about her making a breakthrough. The object of her affection has fallen for her and it is only a matter of time before they are no longer scared of a relationship.

I use to think this song was about an old couple meeting up with each other after many years, that all. But after Trliber8's comment and listen to it again I do believe the song is ending in a hospital. So I now think it's about a girl in the afterlife waiting on an old love to pass on (he got in a car crash or was hit by a car) so they can be together again. I'm not sure it fully holds up but I like the fact that I've listen to this song bout a million times and just now I've seen a new way to interpurate it. Imogen Heap is freaking AWESOME!

Maybe a girl was in love with somebody she knew a long time ago, and she finnaly see's him again and she hopes that he's like he used to be. But when she see's him again, he's changed a lot, but she is going to try to work things out.

That's probably different than of what most people think, but that's just my guess. :/

i'm probably letting a personal experience color my interpretation of this song, but . . .

to me, it seems like the lyrics are the thoughts of a person who is deeply, obsessively in love with someone else, someone who might not be aware of their infatuation, but at the very least doesn't likely feel the same intensity of emotions. she hasn't seen the person she's in love with in a long time, and is trying to find them so that she can finally make her intentions apparent. and, regardless of how this person feels about her, she means to love them.

i think sumeragi_slut said it right, yeah. she's still in love with someone she hasn't seen in ages, and she's gonna be seeing him again and is describing her feelings and what it's going to feel like to see him again..."i can't wait to be with you"..."i just have to kiss you/try and stop me..." etc.

It makes me think of someone reflecting back on a relationship they had.....but the person they love is making bad decisions for themselves and all she wants to do is help them, but hte person is so wrapped up they cant see it as help

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
