Hardly Wait

One of my favorite PJ Harvey songs ever... such a great song about long-awaited, long-needed sexual gratification, and not by yourself. Amazing song, with extremely minimal percussion, loud guitar, and heartfelt vocals.

I think it's about the anticipation of having sex after a long dry period. :D

I thought it was "hey Romeo make my water break". and no I am not kidding.

I believe it was Sleeping Beauty, not snow white, who was in the glass coffin.

Which makes me lean more towards the 'looking-forward-to-long-awaited-sexual-gratification' meaning, rather than anything to do with anorexia.

It's been so long, she feels like Sleeping Beauty waiting for that kiss to bring her back to life. The rest is just metaphorical imagery.

I've always gotten the impression that this story refers to Snow White. Haha.

Don't get the anorexia thing, and the dreaming of Glass Coffins being a common thing i've never heard of... so I think someone is making crap up to suit theirselves.

This song is clearly about her lack of yearning and then a resurgance of her appetite. Now, you can't listen to the song and read the lyrics without knowing it's about sex, but it's very much about food as well. I think the comments about anorexia and the long awaited sexual act are BOTH correct; the feelings are so similiar it's easy to confuse the two. If you talk to any anorexic, they'll often bring up sex, whether they don't have it, don't like to be touched, haven't had sex in a noticable amount of time, etc. Let's remember, 'Sleeping Beauty' was awaiting a kiss and it was an apple that caused her eyes to close.
