Even at Our Worst We're Still Better Than Most Lyrics
You can have it all, I ain't got the heart to fight, no.
Total exhaustion, complete breakdown. For the asshole I am,
apologies in full, please leave me alone.
Pull over the van, let me out.
And we'll give the money back, to the record label.
Fire the agent, fire the manager.
We ain't got what it takes, to make it.
We got indifference, got no respect for them.
Feels like you already said so much,
feels like you can never say enough.
Let someone else take our place,
let them be your entertainment.
You know they're waiting,
(you know they're waiting)
You know they're waiting,
(you know they're waiting)
You know they're waiting,
(they're just waiting)
To tear us apart
You know they're waiting,
(you know they're waiting)
You know they're waiting,
(you know they're waiting)
You know they're waiting,
(they're just waiting.)
To tear us apart

This song is about giving up music when it is no longer fun and starts to feel like a real job.
All the fucks that called them sell outs can go and listen to My Chemical Romance for all I care, they're causing and missing out on some of the greatest music ever.
^^ We got indifference, got no respect for them.
Yes.. the song is about regret but I doubt it's "Oh man, we totally sold out!" (Off-topic: If you really wanted to look at every single Anarchist band, they're all hypocrites due to some sort of 'sin'.. whether it's purchasing clothing/goods processed in sweatshops, using gasoline in their vans/cars, or the idea of selling ideals.. in the form of music.. I know that's stretching it, but if an ideal is constantly bended, it will be broken..)
Before I go into anything, it's probably not the 'best' idea to analyze this song by itself. The album is definitely meant to be placed together, and not torn about word by word...
(This is gonna be long.. just a warning) Around the time of this album and before, the band had a conflict of interest with Plan-It-X; part of their fanbase for their decision to sign to Fat, etc...
"Even at our Worst, We're Still Better than Most" isn't so much about being a (boo-hoo) sellout.. it's about facing adversity on all sides for the decisions they make, and sort of pointing out that there's no way (or rather, it's improbable) they could just drop everything, and return to playing at campfires and basement shows.
The song also notes the idea that the band is not a movement or ideal... or punk rock saviors.. they're now a source of entertainment that we (in reference to fans) spend hours criticizing AND supporting. And at this point, it's beyond their control (unless they break up). The next song on the album ("Problems") continues this story.... >_>
Everyone's a hypocrite. So haters can go f*ck themselves.
From my perspective it doesnt have to be about selling out, but finally seeing an end to a situation or relationship and coming out feeling empty as if it was all for nothing. A real disgust for a situation or time or place, the line " apologies to all for the asshole i am" just shows the indifference of the songwriter, covered up by feelings of being burned out, that point when you just dont think you can work another hour at your job, or stand another minute fighting with your girlfriend or another drink at the bar.
"Feels like you already said so much, feels like you can never say enough." As in no matter how much critisicm their back stabbing original fanbase (which i find funny that they can say they are the "true fans" of AM!), they can't change the directiom of the band.
"may the likes of this song never make one fucking dollar, leave it for a demo tape to be played until it's broken then remembered only for what it was"
-againt me
I think b.t.m.i borrows lyrics from this song in syke life is awesome about pulling the van over
Why would they steal from AGAINST ME?

Mostly all punk bands use vans. Just because a song has a couple of words in common doesn't mean that it's related in any way.

Yeah. That song never made a dollar. and now it's remembered for what it was. A badass song that Tom Gabel wrote a long time ago. Move on.

They are sell outs. This band is about Anarchism incase none of you knew. Anarchists aren't supposed to support capitolism, and by getting a record label, they have sold them selves to it. Now I think they are regretting it.
do you even know what anarachism and capitalism mean? Anarchism is the destruction of government leading to a classless society. Capitalism, in it's purest form, means no government control of the economy. No Government! In the truest forms of their existance the two go hand in hand.

Capitalism has very negative conotation surrounding it now. It somehow no longer means free market, but means corporations creating monopolies to exploit the public and that is simply not true. Sure corporations do this all the time but that is not capitalism that is a failure in regulation.

I seriously doubt they are...
I seriously doubt they are regretting the record deal because they haven't had to change who they are. They can still believe in anarchism all they want even if they don't sing about it anymore. In fact calling them an anarchist band is stupid. Just because a band believes in something and maybe writes a few songs about something labelling them is just wrong.
