This song has NOTHING to do with religion. NOTHING! Just because it says "God" and "Jesus" doesn't mean that's what the whole song is about, no matter how hard you try to bend the meaning to fit your own personal preferences.
This song is about life going down hill/being in a desperate situation, but still having the integrity to not give in and sell out.
