At the wake of the storm
Many flurries of cold and furious thoughts
Hardly managed to drag me down
I heard it all from another room
Stolen words from mouths of fools
So what else is new still they can't keep their cool

I live to justify to give the reasons why
You won't see right through me
See right through me

All of this can't be real the poor state that I am in
Discomfort in my sleep may have brought me here
All the vows are broken, all the guilt I am wearin of bein here
Of being here so unprotected

I live to justify to give the reasons why
You won't see right through me,see right through me
I live to justify to say the reason why you'll may sense my fear
But you won't see right through me

Overhead closer up there
See the earth's fadin nations
Shuttles,spaceships,satellites
All gathered up there hypnotized
I may climb highest fences
Face the worthless consequences
Obscured,shattered is the sky
Another lesson learned in time
Many lacks of confidence
In hidden useless conversations

I live to justify to give the reasons why

You won't see right through me
I live to justify to say the reason why you'll may sense my fear
But you won't see right through me

It's true that this song is about someone who wants to be noticed and acknowledged by someone they have a crush on. However, there is a subtle issue of pride about it all. The singer would be able to take on many things with a brave heart:

"At the wake of the storm Many flurries of cold and furious thoughts Hardly managed to drag me down"

    and

"I may climb highest fences Face the worthless consequences Obscured, shattered is the sky Another lesson learned in time"

But the object of the singer's affection makes him/her feel weak and nervous, whenever they are around, or even if they are just thinking about them while alone. This person is smitten:

"All of this can’t be real the poor state that I am in Discomfort in my sleep may have brought me here All the vows are broken, all the guilt I am wearin of bein here Of being here so unprotected"

    and

"Many lacks of confidence In hidden useless conversations"

The singer has been mentally rehearsing what would happen if they had a chance to interact or get to know the object of their affection. But now that the effort is being made, he/she is going to do their best to make sure that their crush doesn't realize the full effect they have:

"I live to justify to give the reasons why You won’t see right through me,see right through me I live to justify to say the reason why you’ll may sense my fear But you won’t see right through me"

I cannot believe no one has commented on this song...Anyway To me I think this song is about someone Who is tired of being ignored, and it trying to figure out why he isnt being notice/acknowledged by someone Thats probably not what it really means, but that how I interperate it xD

I could have sworn I heard this on the 30 Seconds To Mars myspace page... then I went back and they only have 3 songs up now O.o Innntresting.. Anyways, I love this song. I agree with Honalulu but it also seems to me that it's someone listening to someone fighting with someone else in the other room and he can hear it all. (His parents maybe?)

For some reason, this song reminds me of the band Thrice. The scope and depth of it, as well as the lyrics.

I agree too that he's someone who wants to figure out why he isn't being noticed by others. But I think that he will show that he's better than many people, like a judge ("justify"). "furious thoughts hardly managed" i think he will show that the people doesn't really think about their thoughts and what they're saying... he say also that it's a "poor state" and other negative things about the world. At the end i would say that he only wants to show us that very many stupid people are living in the world, and they hurt the world with their wars and they're like a danger to the society.

This is my favorite song from the album. Just about everyone has had these feelings before, so it's easy to relate to the song. I love Mobile!!

In a way I think this might be a slightly happy song? to me, it seems that someone can understand her, they can see through her normal every day exterior and they know her for who she is... but shes maybe finding it hard to accept that shes so transparent to someone...

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
