I feel like singing sad songs all night
I feel like tuning you out
do you want to make it in to more of a fight
is this yelling what love's all about?

(chorus)
so go on, and tear me apart
yeah just go on in straight for my chest
and maybe it's mostly my fault
'cause if I'm the only girl you ever had
I guess I can't be the best
can't be the best

and I feel like falling asleep while you scream
I feel like tuning you out
do you want to stand up and make a big scene?
put the lid down, pick up the dog shit, and shut your mouth

(chorus)

and I feel like singing sad songs all night

the only part i get about this song is the chorus

"...and maybe it's mostly my fault 'cause if I'm the only girl you ever had I guess I can't be the best can't be the best"

i think she means that if she is the only girl that the guy ever had then there is nothing he can compare her to.

idk. i suck at knowing what a song means thats why i come to this site for help :]]]

I think this song is meant to be sarcasm towards the guy she is dating, kind of like Good Job Charlie, your so great because you make me feel so small and stupid, and everyone thinks your so amazing for yelling at you defenseless girlfriend.

Bravo Charlie--isn't that a reference to Charlie Brown?? (not entirely sure, but it's what i think of) ...he was always kinda depressed and whatnot, and if anything, this song is depressing lol. but it's also very touching and beautiful, like all of their songs. i also think that ode2jeremy has a good point about it.

i don't think its about love, actually. it could be, but i think its a family thing.

I feel like singing sad songs all night I feel like tuning you out do you want to make it in to more of a fight is this yelling what love's all about? (( the daughter of the fighting parents wants to tune out their yelling and screaming, and she wants to know if 'thats what love is' because obviously they say they love eachother but fight like hell ))

(chorus) so go on, and tear me apart yeah just go on in straight for my chest and maybe it's mostly my fault 'cause if I'm the only girl you ever had I guess I can't be the best can't be the best (( theyre tearing her apart by fighting all of the time and she thinks its her fault because shes their only daughter )) and I feel like falling asleep while you scream I feel like tuning you out do you want to stand up and make a big scene? put the lid down, pick up the dog shit, and shut your mouth ((it shows a whole scene in their household at the end there, that they fight about the little things like picking up the dog crap ))

    (chorus)

and I feel like singing sad songs all night

    so yeah thats my portrayal

I thought this song was called "Like Daddy, Like Daughter." Maybe I have the demo version? Well if my file isn't just mislabeled, then I just strengthened the family idea.

that's because it IS "like daddy, like daughter." And that pretty much sums up it's meaning, too.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
