Bells Of Freedom Lyrics

I have walked all alone
On these streets I call home
Streets of hope, streets of fear
Through the sidewalk cracks time disappears

I was lost, on my knees
On the eve of defeat
As I choked back the tears
There’s a silent scream no one could hear

So far away from everything you know is true
Something inside that makes you do what you got to do

Ring them bells, ring them loud
Let them ring here and now
Just reach out and ring the Bells of Freedom
When your world’s crashing down
Like you’re lost every round
Stand your ground
And ring the Bells of Freedom

Up the steps of the church
Through the fields and the dirt
In the dark I have seen
That the sun still shines for the one who believes

So far away
So full of doubt and needing proof
Just close your eyes and hear the sounds inside of you

Ring them bells, ring them loud
Let them ring here and now
Just reach out and ring the Bells of Freedom
When your world’s comes crashing down
Like you’ve lost every round
Stand your ground
And ring the bells of freedom

Ring them bells, ring them loud
Let them ring here and now
Just reach out and ring the Bells of Freedom
Yeah, when your world comes crashing down
Like you’ve lost every round
Stand your ground and ring the Bells of Freedom
Ring them bells, ring them loud
Let them ring here and now
Just reach out and ring the Bells of Freedom…

This song had me believe in Jesus Christ. :-)

I was really down these days (14 years old) so I prayed to God, just to see if things will work out. And they worked out. I was an atheist, so I became a Christian again.

And yes, stand your ground and ring the bells of freedom. Remember what Jesus Christ said? "Know the truth and the truth shall set you free." So far I've met only one Truth...God!

Peace and love to everyone and keep the faith!

God Bless you!! I almost cried when I saw this comment! It feels so good that this song brought you to God! This song was not on my ipod for the longest time, and then I decided to put the whole cd on, and so one day I was in my car driving to school, and it came on, and the song just touched me so hard, and it felt so good! So now today, I looked at the lyrics, and was singing the song in my head, and then I got curious about what people were saying. This was...

I have only just realised how deep and meaningful this song really is. Iv just seen them live in coventry, uk and i was nearlly in tears when they played this. There were projections of Martin Luther King Jr and JFK and it hit me like to say that they were freedom fighters and that no matter what you want in life, never give up.

I think its also kind of a message to our troops over seas. "So far away, so full of doubt" I think means how far they are from home, and they don't know why they're there, but "hear the sound inside of you, ring those bells" is saying no matter what you're going for, remember why.

This song reminds me of Undivided, in a strange way. They’re both songs that came out in the Bush era, and while Undivided alludes to the planes that took down the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and the one that would’ve taken down the White House or the Capital as “one for love, one for truth, one for me and one for you”- things and people taken from the American people- Bells Of Freedom sounds like the fallout of 9/11. With the “eve of defeat” could very well be 9/10, “when your world’s crashing down” could be alluding to the twin towers. Being “so far from everything you know is true” makes me think of the troops dispatched in Afghanistan, “in the dark, I have seen that the sun still shines for the one who believes” is basically saying life goes back to normal for the perseverant people, which is true enough. The rest, I don’t know. “Bells Of Freedom” has something to do with the liberty bell(?)

i think it means when people are telling you what to do you should stand your ground and say no.

'Stand your ground And ring the Bells of Freedom'

@sammie-lou I just have to disagree. I mean, we weren’t born to follow gives me the whole “march to the beat of your own drum” vibe; this doesn’t. It’s a patriotic song that doesn't get heard enough.
