This song reminds me of Undivided, in a strange way. They’re both songs that came out in the Bush era, and while Undivided alludes to the planes that took down the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and the one that would’ve taken down the White House or the Capital as “one for love, one for truth, one for me and one for you”- things and people taken from the American people- Bells Of Freedom sounds like the fallout of 9/11. With the “eve of defeat” could very well be 9/10, “when your world’s crashing down” could be alluding to the twin towers. Being “so far from everything you know is true” makes me think of the troops dispatched in Afghanistan, “in the dark, I have seen that the sun still shines for the one who believes” is basically saying life goes back to normal for the perseverant people, which is true enough. The rest, I don’t know. “Bells Of Freedom” has something to do with the liberty bell(?)
