This ain't a song for the broken-hearted
No silent prayer for faith-departed
I ain't gonna be just a face in the crowd
You're gonna hear my voice when I shout it out loud

It's my life
It's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just wanna live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said, I did it my way
I just wanna live while I'm alive
It's my life

Yeah, this is for ones who stood their ground
For Tommy and Gina who never backed down
Tomorrow's gettin' harder, make no mistake
Luck ain't even luck, you gotta make your own breaks

It's my life
And it's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just wanna live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said, I did it my way
I just wanna live while I'm alive
'Cause it's my life

Better stand tall when they're calling you out
Don't bend, don't break, baby, don't back down

It's my life
And it's now or never
'Cause I ain't gonna live forever
I just wanna live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said, I did it my way
I just wanna live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
And it's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just wanna live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said, I did it my way
I just wanna live while I'm alive
'Cause it's my life

This song is about being yourself, and standing up for what you believe in, not letting people walk all over you. Hell cool song, I love it :)

    My Interpretation

I love this song :) It helped me a lot, I had a time in my life when I just liked pleasing people. This 'caused a lot of heartbreak, I got walked all over.

This song just makes me realise, I'm not weak. I can say no, if I don't want to do something.

I think he covers a lot in this song Love - don't give up if you think it's worth it, even if people doubt you. Life - don't sit around & wait for shit to happen, get out there & do it for yourself.

I love how he uses Tommy & Gina in this, he's saying even when times were hard they never gave up, they stood there own ground, & it payed of in the end.

I also love the Sinatra line 'Like Frankie said I did it my way' He's basically saying, like the song said You have to live life your way, not how others want you to.

This is your 1 & only life, it isn't a rehersal Do whatever the fuck makes you happy while your here! Don't fit in, be original.

    Really inspiring song :)

I've noticed that several songs on "Crush" seem to be continuing the stories or thoughts that are conveyed in other Bon Jovi songs, especially songs from "Slippery When Wet" and "New Jersey". As antmann says, this songs relates to "Livin' On A Prayer", which is especially evident since the lyrics include the same couple from "Prayer", Tommy and Gina. Has anyone else noticed this trend?

Songs that relate to one another make them so much more "complete", since it's hard to tell a story in 4 minutes and 100 words. I wish more artists wrote songs that span 2 individual songs or more.

many believe tommy and gina to be, Jon Bon Jovi and his wife, Dorthea.

Livin' on a Prayer is when we first meet Tommy and Gina, and the story basically matches there story i believe. Tommy trying to get into the rock world but its tough and Gina has to work and bring money cause hes just trying to fulfill his dream.

Also, for anyone who didnt know, "Like Frankie said I did it my way" is a reference to Frank Sinatras "My Way"

When he says Frankie, he is referring to Frank Sinatra. very few of his younger listeners understand this part of the song :P Amazing song, Bon Jovi remains the best band in the world :)

    My Opinion

Having plans is nothing. Trying means little. There is no consolation for doing your best but not succeeding. ("This ain't a song for the broken hearted"). And giving up is for losers. (No silent prayer for faith departed"). The rewards go to those who take control. Don't knock on doors, KICK THEM OPEN.

This song beats just about any "punk" song that is popular right now. It has more of a "fuck you" attitude then anything Good Charlotte or Blink 182 could ever do. Jon Bon Jovi himself even has it in him. I remember watching an interview with him about MTV and the band's new record. He said MTV had no interest in the band and that they weren't relevant enough anymore. So what they did was play to 500,000 people in Times Square before the Super Bowl. Eat shit and die, MTV (That part is mine)

    biggie fries,

Yeah, that is cool when bands do that, it really adds another layer to the songs. If you listen to "99 In The Shade," it has Tommy and Gina in there as well.

Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
