"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.
I bet you've got something else to say to me this time, don't you?
You're running out of excuses, this is the last chance for you
And you know that you're never gonna make it on your own
Yeah, you know that you're never gonna make it on your own
And I'm not gonna take this
'Cause I'm so sick and tired of you lying
And I'm not sure if your trying
For me anymore
Tell me a story you know isn't true 'cause I'll find it amusing
You might be into the games that we play but I don't like losing
And you know that you're never gonna make it on your own
Yeah, you know that you're never gonna make it on your own
And I'm not gonna take this
'Cause I'm so sick and tired of you lying
And I'm not sure if your trying
For me anymore
And you know that you're never gonna make it on your own
Yeah, you know that you're never gonna make it on your own
And I'm not gonna take this
'Cause I'm so sick and tired of you lying
And I'm not sure if your trying

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
story about a guy convinced to be right and doesnt want to apologize for. Anyway, great song! i love the singer s voice, powerfuul
i think its about a really messed up relationship, they lyrics are sort of contradictory, but its a really kl song. Id never hear of this band before the song, but theyre really really good
this song is like so whats happening to me at the moment
i dont think its contradictory
i know it says i dont mean to make you cry
that donst mean hes sorry...i mean with me i hurt a girl by not being her friend...and like well...
i dint mean to upset her
but i was doin the best thing so im not sorry
this song is like so about me atm lol
exactly what im going through lol xxx
Great song. He's clearly not sorry though. Can't stop listening to this track right now...
this is what i think...
i think that the relationship has ended. the person singing the song has been dumped. thed dumped did something to hurt the dumper but isn't sorry and is saying even if you asked me back i wouldn't take you. i thinks its all about revenge and being bitter but feeling no remorse for the 'enforced karma' the dumpee inflicted on the dumper.
god did that make sense?
the realationship has ended, trying to be friends she has hurt him even more. He retaliates by saying hurtful things which makes her cry. He is not sorry but then she tries to draw blood
