Q&A
Dear scene, I wish I were deaf Lyrics
you were one step behind
in that dismal school of mind
needle and percocets
instead of books on student's desks
we were so charming
the future was alarming
but now don't you go look so proud
'cause guess who's laughing now
and we've learned that life is one big game
where the winners are all getting paid
so stop dragging your feet behind
you can't live with your folks all your life
so on those days i'm in your car
we drove the steering wheel towards the median
joking that we'd end our lives
but we weren't joking all the time
start a band, throw a brick
you lazy hipsters make me sick
don't clap your hands
don't start to dance
don't let them know that you're a fan
you're living in hiding
but really, friend, have you forgotten
cause you may be playing your music loud
but it's drowned out by your mouth
and we've learned that life is one big game
where the winners are all getting paid
so stop dragging your feet behind
you can't live with your folks all your life
so on those days i'm in your car
we drove the steering wheel towards the median
joking that we'd end our lives

you cant live with your folks all your life

i Heart nightmare of you! and is it or the song that i have but on my iPod i swear i could hear a lady say "actors" after
start a band, throw a brick you lazy hipsters make me (actors) sick it ~kinda overlaps SICK
you GOTTA love the screaming part. It's pretty much amazing. And clapping twice after "don't clap your hands" is completely necessary when jamming out to this song.
I love this song so much<33
gah!!! it took me forever to realize the reference to lifetime's the gym is neutral territory. way to represent, nightmare of you.
what reference?! i need to watch more lifetime....i am all about references but any one made including lifetime goes above my head...!!!
this is a great song "...start a band or throw a brick you lazy hipsters make me sick..." by far the best line that and "...you may be playing your music loud but its drowned out by your mouth..."
isnt it "we jerk the steering wheel towards the median"
great song, not too sure what it's about though. and i'm pretty sure it is "you're living in manhattan".
It's about Scene Kids.I read an article on NOY in AP and it made it all clear.
The song is about the hardcore Scene and how cliche it can be.And how arrogant and narrowminded some scene kids are. "Start a band or throw a brick. You lazy hipsters make me sick"
He also makes a reference to how egotistic they can be and how they think hardcore music is the best music around. "Kid, you may be playing your music loud, but it's drowned out by your mouth."
Or how some of them are posers.... "You're living in Manhattan.Where are you really from?Have you forgotten?"
Or how some of them think they have the worst life in the world because they hate their parents. "So stop dragging your feet behind. You can't live with the folks all your life." "Joking that we'd end our lives, but we weren't joking all the time."
I believ this was brought on by the pressure he felt in the scene when He was the post-hardcore/ punk band The MovieLife.
