How Much I Feel Lyrics
I don't know how this whole business started
Of you thinking that I have been untrue
But if you think that we'd be better parted
It's gonna hurt me but I'd break away from you
Well just give me the sign and I will be gone
That's how much I feel for you baby
How much well I need your touch
How much I live I live for your loving
That's how much, that's how much, that's how much
Sleep alone and late at night I am dreaming
Of the togetherness that seems to leaving me oh no
It ain't long then I kiss some more
If you'll only love me like you have before
Ahh take hold of my hand I will be forgiven
That's how much I feel feel for you baby
How much I need your touch
How much I live for your loving
That's how much, that's how much, that's how much
So you try to stay in the middle
And then cry - cry just a little
Then we both realize how foolish you been
I've been trying to make amends
But your pulling all the strings
Cuz that's how much, that's how much,
That's how much
How's your life been going on
I got a wife now years we been going strong
Oh no there's just something I got to say
Sometimes when we make love I still see your face
Just try to recall when we were as one yeah
That's how much I feel for you baby
How much I need I need your touch
How much I live I live for your loving
Of you thinking that I have been untrue
But if you think that we'd be better parted
It's gonna hurt me but I'd break away from you
Well just give me the sign and I will be gone
How much well I need your touch
How much I live I live for your loving
That's how much, that's how much, that's how much
Of the togetherness that seems to leaving me oh no
It ain't long then I kiss some more
If you'll only love me like you have before
Ahh take hold of my hand I will be forgiven
How much I need your touch
How much I live for your loving
That's how much, that's how much, that's how much
And then cry - cry just a little

This song is great! One of my favorites of all time believe it or not! The part about him still envisioning her face while making love to his wife is very eerie. I love it because that's truly how people are, whether we admit it or not. We all have secrets and pasts. They all affect who we are today, whether it be an experience or a past relationship. We all have past lovers, that I'm sure we all think about from time to time. His love for this other woman was immeasurable, but it couldn't work. Eventhough he's moved on, she still affects him everyday. It's Beautiful. A real emphasis on how we all have these past lives that are forever with us in our minds.
@convince exactly. The one who took a piece of your heart and will have it forever.

The emotions and actions that are described in this song are very real, even if some of them aren't pretty or perfect. There is a madness to it when you love someone deeply.
Man, I'm such a cheeseball. This song gets me every time. Clearly it's about a guy loving someone so much, but they are unable to make it work. So, he gives them up and goes on with his life, but he never stops loving them. Heartbreaking.
I think some of the lyrics here are incorrect though. In the second verse, I'm thinking it should be "Give it all and then I'd give some more / If you would only love me like you had before". Then in the bridge it should be "Then you both realize just how foolish you've been / And you try to make amends". Then, I'm not sure. I don't think "But you're pulling all the strings" is right. Doesn't sound like that to me and doesn't really fit. I've seen on other sites that it's "But you're better off as friends." But I always thought it was something like, "But you crumble under the stress." Who knows? It's still a great song.
This song ain't nothing but the truth! I don't see how anyone could not like it!
It seems to be about a guy whjo loves his past girlfriend very deeply but things just won't work out so he had move on, but will never forget her.
more corrections:
"take hold of my hand and all will be forgiven" meaning he will forgive her.
during the bridge: "then YOU both realize just how foolish YOU'VE been (both of them are foolish) and you try to make AMENDS, BUT YOU'RE BETTER OFF AS FRIENDS"
THIS SHIT'S POETRY, IT NEEDS TO BE CORRECT
"Sometimes when we make love I still see your face"
Sorry, that is totally creepy...... If his wife knew this she would turn Lorena Bobbitt on him.
The lyrics to this song are really sad. Its too bad, the chorus could be part of a very warming love song.
Here's my take: The guy obviously had no choice whether or not he was leaving the relationship. The girl he loved made that choice for him, whether he was "untrue" or not. That's the way it goes sometimes, and its hard to accept. His attempts to reconcile were futile, and now he is left with a burning memory. While the last verses of the song are somewhat disturbing, you really can't blame him.. splitting up with the one he loved wasn't his choice.
I know people generally think the last lines are a bit creepy, but anyone who has ever truly been in love knows that real love is forever.

This isn’t one I hear much anymore. I knew 35 years ago when I got crushed by my first love she would always stay with me in my heart. It hurt bad enough to send me down a lot of roads I shouldn’t, and to hang with shady characters that I shouldn’t. Losing her was devestating and life changing in the worst way. My best friend moved out of state and I lost my job within 2 months as well. So life was kicking my ass pretty good. This song was out back then (1987), and there was no internet or really getting in touch with anyone from your past back then unless you were some kind of stalker lol. So I never thought I’d even see her face again or know how her life had turned out. That said, even when I was 16 or 17, I knew this song was going to be one I would always relate to her. FF to the 2000’s and social media and we reconnect once in awhile sending messages. Nothing deep. Her life had gone on. She was married, had two kids and that was that. I was happy to hear life was good to her. I was finally getting it together after a decade of decadence. Eventually I straightened out my life, but never forgot her. Then I saw her at my wife’s class reunion. One look at her and all those years of feelings rush back and she took my breath away. I felt like I might pass out. It was that intense. She was still beautiful. Still the one that crushed me all those years ago, and I felt 16 again. I knew she’d been divorced and was seeing someone. I promised myself long ago to never get into the middle of someone else’s relationship again. So I did the right thing. Left it alone and live with wondering what might have been. Heartbreaking in a bittersweet way. Some things you just live and die with. I think most people have that one relationship regret where they feel like it should’ve turned out different. I don’t think it’s a plea to get them back, although the thought ran through my head a hundred times through the years. But music has always been a great way to put into words, the feeling and description of the impact someone had on your life.
@don1096732 Thank you for sharing. Connecting songs to our past like you mention at the end of your post is so true. I find it that the process has a Spiritual element as well.

Well, I've never liked this song, well, it's meaning. I mean yeah in part it's sweet...he had to move on but he still cares. But just think if your this guy's wife. "Sometimes when we make love I still can see your face". I don't want to think my husband is imagining another woman while we are making love.
@eblckmn it’s probably your best friend or hotties at work he thinks about. Just for variety. Lol.
