My My My Lyrics

The light from the window is fading
You turn on the night
The sound from the avenue's calling you
Open your eyes

And when you find
You're spending your time
Wanting for words
But never speak
You tell yourself
That the things you need come slow
But inside you just don't know

My, my, my
Let your bright light shine
Let your words live on
Far beyond this life
Beyond this life

Hold on to anything
Everything's over and done
Has the fear taken over you
Tell me
Is that what you want
To make up your life

Time after time
You're falling behind
Hold on to me
Never leave
Forever be what you mean to me right now
Don't you feel better now

One of my favorites on the album, and another reason why Rob should do another solo gig...after Matchbox gets plenty of studio and tour time. Rob experimented with various areas on this record, including this, which slightly resembles that of a country song. It's a beautifully written song, and another Rt success.

I think the song revolves around large impacts or transformations your life, how it can bring your spirits down, and to move on and bring out your best in your lifetime regardless.

On a personal level, a LOT has happened to me in the past 5 years. Lost friends, a broken family, among others. I feel this song defines exactly what I've gone through.

Love, love, love this song!

I think this song is about making mistakes and learning from them. Your mistakes don't define you - they make you a better person in the long run.

My, my, my - let your bright light shine. Let your words live on - far beyond this life. Does your wild, wild heart, weigh you down sometimes? Well, my, my, my ain't it the cost of living this life?

I am curious if he wrote this song with any intention of bringing in his own concept of his spirituality or even God. He sings of words that will live on as well as he sings about waiting to hear words that never come. Could that be the voice of God he waits to hear. Just a personal favorite of mine and those would be the words I would speak to someone who might be struggling with in their beliefs. I don't know just a question I have. Tonda
