Getting a little erratic here
And I don't know who to trust
I guess they got a way of reading my mind
I guess I got to adjust
I've got my arms that flip, flop, flip, flop, flip
I got my head on a spring
Well I thought I got you on my side
I haven't got fucking anything

I'm just a face in the crowd
Nothing to worry about
Not even trying to stand out
I'm getting smaller and smaller and smaller
And I got nothing to say
It's all been taken away
I just behave and obey
I'm afraid I am starting to fade away

Uh huh
I kind of see through the cracks when I press up on the wall
I'm not looking to stand up real high, I'd be happy to crawl
I think I'm losing my grip, but I can still make a fist
You know I still got my one good arm that I can beat
I can beat myself up with

I'm just a face in the crowd
Nothing to worry about
Not even trying to stand out
I'm getting smaller and smaller and smaller
And I got nothing to say
It's all been taken away
I just behave and obey
I'm afraid that I'm starting to fade away

Hey, and for what it was worth
I really used to believe
That maybe there's some great thing
That we could achieve
And now I can't tell the difference
Or know what to feel
Between what I've been trying so hard to see
And what appears to be real

Fading away
Fading away
Fading away
Fading away

My world is getting smaller everyday
Hey hey hey hey, and that's okay

My world is getting smaller everyday
Hey hey hey hey, and that's okay

My world is getting smaller everyday
Hey hey hey hey, and that's okay

My world is getting smaller everyday
Hey hey hey hey, and that's okay

The Flip Flop is the best part of the song. I hate you all.

I agree with Pheonix and diklik. First of all the flip flop part is so freaking catchy it is a difference from what he wrote before but it just gets so that you cant stop listening.

And yeah he says that he is getting smaller every day and thats ok maybe he decided he does not care about being a rock star and just wants to make music that satisfies him.

    Phelly 2 is correct.

This is a political and social commentary on our current modern political system and how it has reduced our individuality, gained dominion over us, his belief that it once stood for our benefit and that he is resigned to accept his place in it knowing it will only get worse.

The lyrics remind me of pretty hate machine for some reason.. The hope amongst the gloom "maybe there's some great thing we could achieve" only to be overcome by reality and more gloom.. Can't WAIT for this album..

I also noticed a Foo Fighter element to the song, but didn't particularly find that to be a good thing. The lyrics make me want to drive into a lake. "FLIP FLOP FLIP FLOP FLIP"? He shouldn't have stopped doing drugs. It's a decent song, just nothing to cum in your pants over.

HEY! this is a great song! the lyrics "flip flop flip flop flip" should be the part of the song you love. his lyrics aren't usually that, well, flip floppy. And hes refering to flip floppers. DUUUHHH! Our presidential election has become a joke. Kerry just played to the crowd he would say whatever you wanted to hear. He was a republican posing as a democrat. You can tell because in the year or so leading up to that election he always voted on the left, but over his whole career he voted completely on the right. Bush won because people were convinced that marriage should only be between a man and a woman, and of course the voter fraud that got him elected the first time but was talked about less this time. This album was written during the '04 election and is very political. It kicks ass. FRANK & BUKKAKE!!

I love this song. I was blown away the first time I heard it. I really like the new direction Nine Inch Nails went into.

I like this song, it makes me feel good about myself. I can relate to this for sure.

"I'm not looking to stand up real high, I'd be happy to crawl I think I'm losing my grip But I can still make a fist "

And if you didn't nut in your pants you got a whole bunch of other songs to look forward too and you can bet it will sound different than this one, if you look at what bands are doing lately is changing up sounds on an album to get a sense of variety. If you heard the other leaked tracks like hand that feeds, line begins to blur, and this one, then you know that they all have their own sound really. From what I've heard I'm convinced this will be a pretty sweet album.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
