Last Night On Earth Lyrics
It's the last night on earth before the great divide
My hands are shaking time was never on our side
And there's no such thing as a beautiful goodbye
As an ordinary day I prayed for you a thousand times
It's never enough
No matter how many times I tried to tell to tell you this is love
If tomorrow never comes I want you to know right now that I
I'm gonna love you until the day I die
If tomorrow falls asleep can you hold me first
I'm gonna love you like it's the last night on earth
Like it's the last night on earth
A penny for your thoughts
A picture so it lasts
Let's knock down the walls of immortality
Your fingers on my skin only you can hear my fear
Only you can help me heal
I see forever with you here
It's never enough no matter how many miles stand between us this is love
If tomorrow never comes I want you to know right now that I
I'm gonna love you until the day I die
If tomorrow falls asleep can you hold me first
I'm gonna love you like it's the last night on earth
It's never enough
No it's never enough
(it's never enough)
The afterglow
The horizon line
The shadows fall
Will you still be mine
Will you still be mine
Will you still be mine I ask
If tomorrow never comes I want you to know right now that I
I'm gonna love you until the day I die
If tomorrow falls asleep can you hold me first
I'm gonna love you like it's the last night on earth
My hands are shaking time was never on our side
And there's no such thing as a beautiful goodbye
As an ordinary day I prayed for you a thousand times
No matter how many times I tried to tell to tell you this is love
I'm gonna love you until the day I die
If tomorrow falls asleep can you hold me first
I'm gonna love you like it's the last night on earth
Like it's the last night on earth
A picture so it lasts
Let's knock down the walls of immortality
Your fingers on my skin only you can hear my fear
Only you can help me heal
I see forever with you here
I'm gonna love you until the day I die
If tomorrow falls asleep can you hold me first
I'm gonna love you like it's the last night on earth
No it's never enough
(it's never enough)
The horizon line
The shadows fall
Will you still be mine
Will you still be mine
Will you still be mine I ask
I'm gonna love you until the day I die
If tomorrow falls asleep can you hold me first
I'm gonna love you like it's the last night on earth

i think this song is bout delta loving sumone and she cant stop or help it and shes saying if tomorrow never comes she wants the person she loves to know how she feels.nice song
this song was the song i was going to give to my gf, BUT that was the night she told me that she liked someone else, so i was pretty p!$$3d off about that. yeah, i agree with horses_galore, what he said is pretty much correct
Is it just me or is the song really what i think its about...using references to such things as "the after glow" and "lets knock down the walls of immorality" makes me think shes hinting at something else.
I agree with what you said about her loving someone but this album was also written when she was going through her lymphoma treatment, so I was thinking that 'the last night on earth before the great divide' talks about something profound/huge happneing, could have been her surgery to take away some of hte cancer and how 'time was never on our side' she didn't know if she was going to survive or beat this cancer so it all means that she love ssomeone so much but each night could have been her last.
This is probably my all time favourite song. As aussiegirl87 said, Delta wrote it during her battle with cancer, most likely for Mark who she was dating at the time :S Still, it's such a beautiful song. I think it's very much about love, and being vulnerable and afraid (of dying, being separated from the one you love, etc) and just saying everything you feel before it's too late. The album version has a lot more of a happy feel to it than the live ballad version though...
a beautiful song about not caring if the world ends, as long as they're together
I think it's about Delta being worried about maybe not surviving cancer, and saying to her partner that she loves them more than anything and that if she dies, she just wants to spend her last moments loving them. Beautiful song.
jamerson are you trying to say that you think it might be about sex?
I don't understand jamerson's comment, But I agree with the cancer-phase comments. I love this song, it's really beautiful.
this is my favourite delta song out of all of them! the lyrics are so beautiful and really have a strong meaning.... like the others said i think its about delta not knowing wether or not she will survive the cancer... even though the lyrics suggest it, i dont think it just has to be about her partner it could also be about anyone else, family, friends ect
the version she sang at the visualise was fantastic but like you said Jacqui1 it had a very different feel.
