I am unwritten
Can't read my mind
I'm undefined
I'm just beginning
The pen's in my hand
Ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten, yeah

Oh, oh

I break tradition
Sometimes my tries, are outside the lines, yeah
We've been conditioned to not make mistakes
But I can't live that way, no

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten

Yeah, yeah yeah, yeah, yeah

    General Comment

There are 3 types of people we deal with everyday. You can see all 3 in the comments regarding this song. 1) Dreamers, people who make things happen because they know that whatever comes at them, they alone control their response to it. "No one else can feel it for you" 2) Followers, people who are afraid of creating their own path because of uncertainty, doubt, and fear. Most are afraid of what others will think so they do what they are told. They try to meet the minimum requirements of life and never truly break through to personal greatness. Most do not want to be in this category, because over time, life has a way of showing the truth of who you are. People who live in this realm are always "hoping for more" or making an excuse as to why they never accomplished the goals they set for themselves. Every New Years Eve, they scream proudly "This new year is going to be different," yet find themselves 1 year later, in the same or worse place as the year before. Then at the end of their life, all the should of, would of and could of regrets, are buried under all the things they have or "treasured memories" they will use as excuses to not feel the pain of regret. This is the worse place to be. 3) The final type of person are the Karen's (male or female) of the world. They won't reach out and grab for the unknown to make something new and different for themselves. But these folks are super angry with where thy have been put in life. They made lousy choices early on, and will never take responsibility for their own actions. They believe they can do and say whatever they want, they work to make everyone feel as miserable as they are, they will tell you how wrong you are while they are always right, they have an excuse or lie to explain the good that is happening to others and not themselves and they will constantly pull everyone else down to their level of horrible existence, they have no desire or intention to rise and be better. They are miserable inside and out and they will destroy as many as they can to make sure no one else is happier than they are. All 3 types have made comments to this artists' picture of what she knows everyone is capable of. I was type 2 for years. I thought I was a dreamer but I had excuses for not accomplishing my goals. I'm now 60 years young and last month I lost my wife and best friend of more than 44 years. I was distraught and broken. I couldn't figure out what I was to do next. For almost 40 days now, the type 2 and type 3 people have been telling me what I should be doing. I even had a self proclaimed miserable person actually tell me life sucks and since my life is over now, just quit. Nobody wants people around that are sad all the time. Just get over it. Yep, that Karen actually told me to get over it. And then, the most beautiful person said to me that I can do anything. That my life is a blank book to write how I want to finish my story. To get advice but to go after my dreams and show my wife and myself what I am truly capable of. No more fear, no more regrets just go for it. And then she played this song. I believe it means we have to open our selves up and to be honest. We have spent our entire existence throwing dirt on the windows, to hide our true capabilities. We have let others decide our fate and now it is time for us to look past it all, feel the real rain on our skin and write our own words, because we have the power to do so. No one else can do it for us, but they will lie and make us believe what they have is better. These lyrics have woken the inner dreamer in me and no matter how "cheesy" that is for those that make excuses, I WILL WIN.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
