Let It All Out Lyrics

Let it all out
Get it all out
Rip it out remove it
Don't be alarmed
When the wound begins to bleed

Cause we're so scared to find out
What this life's all about
So scared we're going to lose it
Not knowing all along
That's exactly what we need

And today I will trust you with the confidence
Of a man who's never known defeat
But tomorrow, upon hearing what I did
I will stare at you in disbelief
Oh, inconsistent me
Crying out for consistency

[Chorus:]
And you said I know that this will hurt
But if I don't break your heart then things will just get worse
If the burden seems too much to bear
Remember
The end will justify the pain it took to get us there

And I'll let it be known
At times I have shown
Signs of all my weakness
But somewhere in me
There is strength

And you promise me
That you believe
In time I will defeat this
Cause somewhere in me
There is strength

And today I will trust you with the confidence
Of a man who's never known defeat
And I'll try my best to just forget
That that man isn't me

[Chorus x2]

Reach out to me
Make my heart brand new
Every beat will be for you
For you

And I know you know
You touched my life
When you touched my heavy heart and made it light

If ever a song were written to describe the true nature of love, this is it. Probably the most I've ever been touched by a song. It seems that Matt penned these lyrics after going through my life over the previous 3 weeks; the song truly made me want to cry the first time I heard it, and it has been in my head ever since. A poignant, painful song that is overwhelmingly sad and yet still holds out a glimmer of hope for a return to better and brighter days, Let it All Out is the epitome of a love song, at once showing the happiness that love can bring and the contrasting incredible pain that that same love can bring if taken away. Love, the two-edged sword that can vanquish any foe but cuts all the more deeply when turned against the one who wields it; if only it were not so. I suppose the tragic loss of love only serves to make it more valuable, but that's a hard pill to swallow when you're lying bleeding from a wound given to you by the one you loved more than life itself. Let the blood from my wound flow all the more freely if hope is gone, but it somehow remains, kept alive for now by things like this song.

That's very deep, I respect you for this.

Man, when told like this, it seems even more beautiful.

The new album is amazing, and you are nothing but right. Isn't this song amazing?

I think it's leaning more towards making mistakes, like I So Hate Consequences.

In the first verse, the imagery is that there's something in the blood that needs to be let out, like venom from a snakebite. I'm kinda foggy on the second half, but it strikes me an awful lot like: "For whoever would save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it." - Matthew 16:25

"And today I will trust you with the confidence Of a man who's never known defeat But tomorrow, upon hearing what I did I will stare at you in disbelief Oh, inconsistent me Crying out for consistency "

he promises that he won't do something, and then he can't help himself when he's tempted to do it and gives in. Later the person he made the promise to finds out and confronts him about it, and he can't believe that he lost control again. That's something I've gone through so many times I've lost count.

In the second verse, he describes the human condition of being weak; we're fallen creatures, and we should realize that we are. As they say, knowing's half the battle. But we're not perfectly imperfect,(how's that for a contradiction? It's like in the movie the Incredibles, how they say that if everybody's special, then nobody's special. Anyways...) and somewhere inside of us is the strength to defeat our problems (that grow on us, like gravity); hmm... then there's that image in Christianity of Jesus coming to live inside us... hmm...

"If the burden seems too much to bear Remember The end will justify the pain it took to get us there"

This is easily the best part of the song, IMHO. It's just... I don't know... moving, to think of how although we're going to have to go through all kinds of hardships in this life, the end goal of the joys of heaven will be more than worth it.

That principle, of course, applies to almost everything in life; like in school, if you don't work and push yourself and suck up the discomfort, you won't learn. If you want to play sports, you've got to work. No pain, no gain.

This, for me, is one of the best songs on this CD. And that's saying something, because it's an amazingly good CD.

I really enjoyed this part "Remember The end will justify the pain it took to get us there". Adding on to what liebherk said.. It was interesting because I had just finished reading a chapter in my history textbook about "end justifying the means". Not only was it a completely inspiring line, but thiessen drew from history, and that deserves my deepest respect.

This song is just amazing. I can relate so much to this song on how much I struggle trying to live up for Christ. This song is so deep, and so emotional. I guess the best part is the chorus. It's so catchy, yet so true. Very awesome song.

I wasn't really sure what this song meant until the other day I was having a pretty rough time and listened to it in the car. It kind of just all came together. This is how i interpret this song, right or wrong, it makes sense to me.

"And today I will trust you with the confidence Of a man who's never known defeat But tomorrow, upon hearing what I did I will stare at you in disbelief Oh, inconsistent me Crying out for consistency"

^ Turning his life completely over to God, leaving what temporary behind for the eternal. I think those who have experienced this would agree that after you try to turn everything over to God, you start to think, "I did what?! but that's all I have!" Humans are inconsistent. One moment we'll be all out for God, and the next moment doubts and troubles arise and we long for that trust and peace we once felt when we seemed humble and close to the Lord.

And you said I know that this will hurt But if I don't break your heart then things will get worse If the burden seems too much to bear Remember The end will justify the pain it took to get us there

More often then not, it seems God has to break our heart before he takes us where he wants us to be. Our hearts are filled with worldy things, and God sometimes has to break our heart so we realize what is really important. We get on the wrong track and the wrong things become important to us, and sometimes if God doesn't break our heart, things will just get worse. I think the last 2 lines of this verse are self explanatory: Remember The end will justify the pain it took to get us there
