In this perfection I lament her beauty
Her voice a sour note in this bitter serenade
In this perfection I lament her beauty
Her voice a sour note in this bitter serenade

And all these words I could have, would have, should have said
Ring out like gunshots across long lost days
If this wasn't love then what the fuck was I thinking?
I would bear my soul just to bask in your grace
And your beauty
Your strength inspires all of my days
I would carry any load
Just to bear your cross for one day

In this perfection I lament her beauty
Her voice a sour note in this bitter serenade
In this perfection I lament her beauty
Her voice a sour note in this bitter serenade

Your love fills me up
When the blood in my body has drained
And your strength is my backbone
When I feel every bone break

I'm built for pain
I swear to let no one in
And there you where
A vision, a beauty

It takes my breath away
You took my breath away
And it takes my breath away
How you took my breath away

And it takes my breath away
You took my breath away
And it takes my breath away
How you took my breath away

How could I know that you would take my breath away?
And how could I know one kiss would change everything?

Your love fills me up when the blood in my body's drained
And your strength is my backbone when I feel every bone break
Your love fills me up when the blood in my body is drained
And your strength is my backbone when I feel every bone break

i think some are wrong in assuming this is a happier Atreyu song. the lyric "i lament her beauty" lament would mean he grieves for her beauty. i think its more about a relationship he thought was really serious and it wasnt what he thought "if this wasn't love then what the fuck was i thinking?" she took his breath away but with one kiss she was gone. "how could i know one kiss would change everything?"

must of my friends when we listen to new cds...we just skip over the songs we think will suck..but i slapped my friends hand away when this one came on.

its amazing song and it seems to be underated.

    i think its either about

    a) god/or some higher power giving strength to the writer of the song.

ooorrrr the one i think more.

    b) a girl who can make a guy go on in life.

this song to me is about a guy who enters a relationship.. and totally flips head over heels "How could I know one kiss would change everything…?" showing he did not know that this one kiss from this girl could be his soulmate and how he is willing to do anythign for the love she gives him

From the lyrics, this song is probably about the love that the writer/someone has for a woman. This is quite obvious from the "take my breath away" lines to the literal meanings in the second stanza. This relationship may be a forbidden love, because from the title "Nevada" we can relate this to a place of sin, Las Vegas. With this love comes lust, and we find this in the part where it says "your love fills me up when the blood in my body's drained" and "your strength is my backbone." These are possible sexual references describing an erection. I think the sinful nature of this song makes the magnitude of the last three lines so great. This song is great no matter how correct my interpretation is; one of my favorites on The Curse.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
